how does someone put on 15 lbs in 1 day??

I dunno. I've put on as much as 9 pound in a day when I ate a shitload of sweets. Most of it was water weight and I felt like complete shit. I can't imagine eating enough to gain 15 pounds in one day and then fighting in that condition.

don't eat alot, lose your water weight and i bet u'll be 15 lbs lighter easily. Granted, u don't want to stay in this state very long as its hugely unhealthy, but to make weight for a sporting event its done all the time.

I want muscles like that... Booooooooooooo.... Wish i had millions of dollars to hire fred R.. and that other fat guy as my nutritionist.

According to that article, they're expecting to put up to 15 lbs before that fight in 24 hrs. Do they just step in the ring with 15 lbs of food in the stomach?
They are not trying to gain weight overnight.
They dumped weight (probably with diuretics and heavy sweating) to make <150 lbs. each for the weigh-in; the expectation is that when they are properly rehydrated they will each be ~15 lbs. heavier.

this... diuretics before weigh-in and then re hydrating

It's amazing how much water affects your weight. I've weighed myself right before bed and then when I woke up. I've lost six pounds at night before. You can even sweat out a few pounds by working out.

it's never mentioned on-camera, but it's supposedly a pretty common tactic on The Biggest Loser.

when someone has immunity or is reasonably certain that they're safe (such as, because of an alliance that wouldn't vote them off), they'll waterload before the weigh in. then dehydrate before the next weigh in after that when they're not safe and magically lose like 50 pounds.

ugh. I hate that show so much.

is it? losing 2 gallons of water...sounds dangerous.

It might be dangerous if it wasn't being monitored for electrolyte depletion, but since these are professional athletes in a controlled environment, I'd think their electrolyte levels are quite carefully monitored.....as is their electrolyte/fluid replenishment after weigh in.

other then Boxing/MMA/wrestling what sport does serious weight cutting that people would be familiar with? none of the major ones do
i wasn't talking about cutting weight. on a hot day, if i'm training hard, i can drink a gallon of water and still come back 5lbs lighter. if i didn't drink as much water, i could probably drop 10lbs.

A fatties weight can fluctuate anywhere between 2 - 40 lbs a day. It's caused by the eating a shitting cycle of the fatty, and can be quite horrific for normal people to see. It's just another reason why fatties need to be cast out of society. Everyone knows this.

You watch fat people take shits?

Usually people dehydrate themselves before a weigh-in to get to the target weight. They then rehydrate their body by taking in fluids. Wrestlers do it all the time before a competition. Some people use the help of IV to rehydrate. It's not unusual for some one to cut 10+ lbs of water weight in a short time and then gain it back.

Yup when I used to train with my buddy for wrestling, he taught me how to make-weight for the next day.
