The "Christian" religion is THE ABSOLUTE CENTERPIECE or OUR entire country. Only revisionist history attempts to suggest otherwise, and its absolutely laughable.

Anti-Christians love to bash 7 day creationists (a thats understandable to a degree), but oftebn those same people like to ignore overwhelming facts/evidence when evaluating the origin of our country and its laws.....

Consider this:

As you walk up the steps to the building which houses the U.S. Supreme Court
you can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law givers and
each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with a full
frontal view - it is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments!

DID YOU KNOW?

As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have the
Ten Commandments engraved on each lower portion of each door.

DID YOU KNOW?

As you sit inside the courtroom, you can see the wall, right above where the
Supreme Court judges sit, a display of the Ten Commandments!

DID YOU KNOW?

There are Bible verses etched in stone all over the Federal Buildings and
Monuments in Washington, D.C.

DID YOU KNOW?

James Madison, the fourth president, known as "The Father of Our
Constitution" made the following statement "We have staked the whole of all
our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government,
upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control
ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of
God."

DID YOU KNOW?

Patrick Henry, that patriot and Founding Father of our country said, "It
cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was
founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on the
Gospel of Jesus Christ".

DID YOU KNOW?

Every session of Congress begins with a prayer by a paid preacher, whose
salary has been paid by the taxpayer since 1777.

DID YOU KNOW?

Fifty-two of the 55 founders of the Constitution were members of the
established orthodox churches in the colonies.

DID YOU KNOW?

Thomas Jefferson worried that the Courts would overstep their authority and
instead of interpreting the law would begin making law....an
oligarchy....the rule of few over many.

DID YOU KNOW?

The very first Supreme Court Justice, John Jay, said, "Americans should
select and prefer Christians as their rulers."

How, then, have we gotten to the point that everything we have done for 220
years in this country is now suddenly wrong and unconstitutional?

All of the base documents of this country, and almost every single founding party has undeniable direct Christian influence.

A influence that has served us quite well for over 200 years. And don't start withthe slavery, and racial descrimination stuff. That was never right and did eventually get fixed (in large part due to the "Christian" influence.

This country is still a Christian Nation and as such its laws will and should natually reflect this,

Did you know our country is evolving and now includes a great number of Muslims and even atheists?

It's time to shed the narrow-minded views and embrace our cultural diversity.

I didn't read all the postings so forgive me. But I'll tell you why religion influences the background of politics. Some feel that God has a set of morals and ethics society should follow while others are just afraid of God - such as the heathen left.

I thought they were all a bunch of Masons. Is Christianity the root of that or the other way round? And is it possible that Christianity is an expression of truth couched in terms called Christian but that we find this same truth packaged in many forms. They keep saying the truth will out. I know Christians like to say they have the one way and call that one way Jesus cause Jesus said he was the Way, but while that may be the one truth I wonder who knows what Jesus meant by Way. I know what ordinary folk mean when they refer to themselves but Jesus wasn't ordinary. Cause when I went looking for myself all I found was nothing that suddenly filled up with love. I've heard it said that for some that happens permanently. Now if Jesus was Love then I know what he meant by Way.

But silly me, I just can't believe I'm forgiven. You?

What's so funny about that?

#1 Statements like that get really old and after a while it sounds like a mantra.

#2 Diversity is like the liberal code word for blind acceptance of any behavior no matter how reprehensible or twisted one might believe it is.

I honestly was't referring to Muslims. It was more a reference to the word "diversity " itself. Im sorry if I somehow misstated.

I agree with you Nutxo. Sort of like how the Liberals yell, "accept diversity" by letting the North American Man Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) run around saying it's ok to have a 40+ year old man sleep, anally rape, and torture a 12 year old little boy. Yeah, this society is improving.

It takes a sick twisted mind to equate Pediphilia with cultural diversity. You should seek some help Bubba while you still have an inkling of what reality is. You also insult nutxo by suggesting that he believes the same thing as you.

NAMBLA is divers and that?s what the Liberals want. It's not my mind that came up with it; a rep said it was a way of "diversifying". You should go move to France where you would be more welcome.

Freedom is the key, however. With out Freedom there is no politics just compliance with the most powerful faction.
The US has a myriad of religions so the politicians cater to the generic religion. Hoping not to offend too many voters. We put 'In God we Trust' on our currency... not out of respect for God but, rather, because at the time it must have garnered a few more votes.

What does it profit a man tha the gain the world and loose his imortal soul. Is it all to do with power, or what people think is power. What is power? Are we talking about The One Ring?

I've had to think on this awhile...
It really is a difficult question to really grasp.
I guess it is (at the end of the day) what one preceives as power. Whether it is power in fact remains unknown until THE power is revealed..

Equally important, I think, is to wonder, whatever it is that power is, why do some seek it. What is the need that is being filled by power?

I'm not a very religious person, but like most people of my generation I've been heavily influenced by the teachings of our Judeo-Christian culture. I was raised in a mixed household in a large city where it was likely your friends were of every imaginable ethnic type. I think that upbringing gave me a lot of tolerance for diversity in culture and religion. In fact, I would say I have a strong preference for differences. I love to create differences, and I argue with my friends and am always testing them, which they hate. :) (I suspect many of the P & N regulars are sort of argumentative.)

The thinking of St. Francis of Assisi, essentially the notion that a life of service is worth living, has played a large role in my views, particularly as I get older. I've gotten a little more liberal as I've gotten older as a consequence. The problem I have with most doctrinaire types-found among conservatives usually but among liberals occasionally-is that they focus on doctrine or "first principles" rather than on helping people or practical considerations.

The one practical consideration I do regard as important is being fiscally conservative. So don't spend your money on guns if butter is needed. Don't spend more than you earn. Save money because you may want to help yourself, your kids, or others. The culture in Washington is antithetical to this notion. By and large both major parties are extremely irresponsible with the public's money. Bush is one of worst because he is such a weak leader. Someone like McCain is much more willing to kick a++ and take names and that is what that bunch of spoiled brats needs 99.999% of the time.

Anyway, no one doubts that the more you are guided by traditional religious principles the more likely you are to be conservative. On the other hand, liberals TEND to be agnostic or atheistic.
