virtual desktops. when i had a T40 @ 1024x768 i really, really wanted an external LCD.

i upgraded to a T60 with 1400x1050 and use linux anyway, so between that and virtual desktops, im pretty happy. every once in a while i will wish i had another monitor but its not really important to me, itd just be nifty to have.

I cant wait until lappys support 2 external monitors for a total of 3

I currently hook up a LCD next to my lappy at work, makes me WAY more productive being able to have more windows within view.

to those who would have one big monitor - i thought of this solution as well but i find it more convenient to have windows snap to just one screen, and have the other screen free to do other things. do you guys just make them all window size and shuffle your windows around accordingly? i think thats more of a hassle, but whatever works for you!

I have two 1907FP's at work and at home i have a 2007FP and a 2007FPW. At home i guess I could get by with one, but why nto just have two? :)

I have 2x 19" at home and love it. One is directly in front of me I do most of my stuff on it, the other is angled to the side and I leave stuff I look at open there, such as a program I'm working on (usually full screen ssh console window).

I recently upgraded to two at work, that helped a lot. I can have my ticket on one side, my work on the other, or open up dslam lookup tools on one, do troubleshooting on other side etc...

Only thing I find anoying is when you open a window in a program it tends to go anywhere on the two monitors so I find myself dragging windows a lot. Like sometimes my email will open on one monitor, sometimes on the other, etc. But that's on any dual screen setup. Depends on the app some remember the last screen they opened on and open there, some don't.

I don't have a standard place of work, so I need to be able to take everything with me. That means I have a laptop, and the 15.4" screen suits me just fine.

I used dual monitors at home. It's kinda hard to have that here at school, though (unless I got a little one for background apps, which is what I used my other one for anyway). It was so nice to have, though.

Singles are doable if they're large enough.

I have 2x 24'' 2407wfps but i rarely use all of teh realestate at once

Never.

I prefer my 3760x1600 over your 2560x1600 ;)

I have a single 22" LCD at home which is fine. I rarely have more than two applications open anyway.

At work I have a laptop and an LCD setup for dual display which is nice since I have multiple apps open (software developer).

had two at my last job and it was very very useful. Not useful for me at home and for any other job i've had.
