LOL, always the Ferengi huh? I don't really want to buy a soda machine, because I'd hardly ever use it, wouldn't have a place to store it, and the whole point of this is to have a keg. Thanks for the offer though.

I'm not sure you understand. The pre mix machine taps off a 5 gallon steel tank full of root beer. Is that what you mean by "keg" or do you mean one the size of an actual Budweiser keg?

If you called one of the larger liquor stores in your area they may be able to order one for you.

Hmmm...$70 + shipping for enough root beer to serve ~50 people. Wouldn't be too bad if I could find that locally.

I mean something that looks like a keg. KegWorld says a 15.5 gallon keg serves 50 people. I don't know how big a Budweiser keg is, but most of the beer kegs on that site were 15.5 gallons so I'm guessing that big.

Edit: I'd be interested to see pics of what you have though.

No you won't get kicked out. Have someone else plan the actual beer part and bring it. Then you aren't liable.

No seriously it is cool. Cold beer is good. I promise you will enjoy it.

They won't kick you out. They just say that. Seriously.

Ha funny story. Guy down my hall when I was a freshman had had 11 kegs (on separate occasions) before he finally got busted.

Ha funny story. They just kicked a guy out last week for hosting a party with alcohol. Don't know if he brought it or not, but they're serious about it where I'm from.

Yes they do, I've drank from one. I would try contacting A&W or Barqs or whatever rootbeer you want, they would probably know where you can get one.

Any microbrews near you? A lot of them produce root beer and other sodas in small batches....might be worth a call.

Why Root Beer? Get a keg of non-alcoholic beer! (Like O'Doul's)

But, here's the fun part... make sure the college is aware that it's non-alcoholic beer, but don't tell the others in the dorm. Just tell them that you have permission from the school for the party. It is f'in hilarious to see how many people get "drunk" from drinking non-alcoholic beer. (actually, there is a very small amount of alcohol in NA beer, but not really enough to get one drunk). The placebo effect is really cool, and used to be one of my favorite practical jokes. I've had to do it a few times, because no one ever seems to believe that it works. The best was when we had a kid crawl up to his recently ex-girlfriend's door at 2am and say "look what you've done to me."

Good call! I think Free State Brewery in Lawrence may make their own rootbeer.

hehe....a slice of bread or glass of OJ has each contain the same amount of ethanol as an NA beer. You'd need to drink 30 or so in very rapid succession to even get within shouting distance of a buzz.
