How does Newegg's site determine if an item is out-of-stock?

I placed an order around two hours ago at Newegg. When I placed the order, the item I ordered showed as in stock. I used my preferred account to pay.

Now when I check, Newegg shows the item as out of stock. Does their website keep track of how many of each item they have in stock and automatically keep track as people place orders for each item?

Just curious as I hope my order doesn't get backordered.

Computerized inventory? I wouldn't sweat it. They might have just sold out. Did they charge you already? If so, the item is going to ship soon.

Not sure if they charged my preferred account already. The preferred account site isn't instantaneous like most bank / credit card websites. I did receive the "Your transaction has been approved." email.

I wouldn't worry.

It could happen though, but they should fill the orders by time placed, I would hope.

Newegg is pretty good ... I've never failed to get an item when the transaction went all the way through in fact, also I've shopped around for a few minutes only to come back to my saved cart & find the item sold out during the 2 minutes I hesitated so I'd say you'll most likely receive it.

newegg does have dynamic inventory updating.

i forget how, but there's a way to see how much left they have of something. something like pretending to place an order for a rediculously high quantity of whatever item you want...

If you ordered it, it was in stock. After that, it removed one from stock. If your order went through, they'll ship. That is, of course, unless someone ordered it at the same time as you (to the second).

you enter 99 in the quantity box and select update quantity button, and their system will show how many they have in stock by only adding the number they have available to your cart.
