Yea she's stupid but she has the looks and the voice.
It's all about marketing and what not... but what the hell hell does Macy Gray offer besides her annoying ass voice and her nappy Ben Wallace like hair.

i think its because her album 'on how life is' went 4x platium and featured the single 'i try' and got her 2 grammy nominations.

personally though, im not a huge fan of her's. there's a couple songs by her that i like though ('the world is yours pt. 2' feat slick rick and 'ive commited murder' feat mos def and gang starr), but i will admit she has a unique voice. by the way, i have not seen the sony commercial yet. she was also in training day, she was the lady that had her place searched with that fake warrant when they were getting money to go after the sandman.

Yeah, the music industry these days just doesn't have a clue when it comes to music. It's all about marketing the image. Jessica Simpson, for example is NOT a good singer (i.e. the original singer from Berlin sings "Take My Breath Away" much, much better than Jessica will ever hope to.)
