How does long distance work on a cell?

will i incur long distance charges if i call some place far? or will it just be on my regular minutes..this is for my sprint phone..

I'm assuming you have free long distance and will only use up your minutes...

that's how my cell phone plan works anyways.

All depends on your plan. Most Sprint plans include long distance within the US - you just use your regular minutes.

Yep it all depends on your Sprint calling plan. I would call Sprint's customer service and ask them, they will probably tell you either:

1) You have free long distance within your "home region" which is usually the nearest 3-4 states.

or

2) You have free long distance and free roaming anywhere within the lower 48 US states.

What state are you trying to call?

If you're on a plan called "free and clear," long distance is included in your plan at no extra charge while you're anywhere on the Sprint PCS network (the phone does not say "roaming").

Look at your bill. If it doesn't say "free and clear" anywhere on it, call customer service (as if they're worthy af that title, bleh!), wait on hold (and wait, and wait, and wait...), and ask them how your specific plan works.

Check your account online or using Wireless Web on the phone and it should say "Nationwide Long Distance Included" under your service details. If not, it will use your minutes + I think $0.15/minute when you call to out of your local service area.
