How does DDOl run on a P4?

How would the DDOL client run on a 2.26Ghz P4 with 512MB PC_1066 RAMBUS? I know most DC projects run best on Athlon XP (strong FPU), except for Prime 95 whee the Pentium 4 owns

Back when D2OL was just getting started I created a thread on the Sengent forums asking people to report their times on various processors. Below are the responses and a summary. (I would add a note that D2OL seems to need lots of memory so machines with lots of RAM will probably have an advantage.)

Proc Type Mhz Time(Sec) Conf/hr Conf/hr/Ghz
T-Bird Ath. 1300 82 43.90 33.7711
T-Bird Ath. 1000 109 33.03 33.0275
T-Bird Ath. 1200 112 32.14 26.7857
Slot A Athlon 900 189 19.05 21.1640
Palomino 1748 58 62.07 35.5086
Palomino 1610 75 48.00 29.8137
Palomino 1450 91 39.56 27.2831
Palomino 1400 82 43.90 31.3589
P4 2000 85 42.35 21.1765
P3 800 165 21.82 27.2727
P3 800 184 19.57 24.4565
K6-3 450 301 11.96 26.5781
K6-2 400 573 6.28 15.7068
K6-2 300 785 4.59 15.2866
Celeron I 433 365 9.86 22.7783
Pentium 90 1695 2.12 23.5988

Average Conf/hr/Ghz (Higher is better)
T-Bird Ath. 31.2
Palomino 31.0

Celeron I 22.8

I have a P4 2.53 on an Asus P4T533 with 512MB RIMM 4200 running at default to keep temps normal. I run 70-80 candidates (1400-1600 conformers) per day depending on how much surfing I do while its running. :) It does very well for a single node. I only wish I had ten of them running! LOL

That would come out to about 24.7 Conformers/MHz/Hour, mastertech01. A little above the P4 average of 21.2 in the table. Athlons definitely have an advantage, but that's true in most DC projects I think.

My xp1800 puts out about the same as mastertech, but I also play a lot of games so it's not exactly crunching all the time ;).

I don't really count the other one ;). It's only a pIII 600 that puts out 19 a day :).

Sean, despite all the graphical and mathematical system calculations determining Athlon to produce better per MHZ, just bear in mind that Athlon just doesnt have the MHZ avaliable to make it a large difference. In other words in considering this project, in the past week my single node ranks tied for 8th place in the world for production of all the thousands of nodes out there. Thats not to be sneezed at when considering which to use for total daily output, node for node. :) Now if I could just borrow 10 more! :)

I see TA D2OL is up to 7th in the daily production numbers.

A few more new members like Mordrid52 (who is shooting up the team ranks) will definately get the D2OL team towards the top of the list where we rightfully belong!!!!

You can say that again Slatzman, and we appreciate all the help we get to keep going, even peeps who only produce a small number each day contribute nicely for us. No one is unimportant to our team! We have a lot of great potential already and if we could get 5-10 more regular everyday producers I believe we could move to the top 5. Unfortunately with groups like the Dutch Power Cows, number one would seem very difficult to reach without a great surge in interest in our project. But you never know! :)
