how does comcast stay in business?

I ordered their $70 digital cable package b/c i get one month free and free "installation". The first few days were great. I had tons of channels....then around Weds of last week, all i have is basic cable. I call and they tell me that the package i got was for basic cable + Starz. What??? $70 for Starz and baisc cable? I ask why is it called the digital cable package then if no digital channels are even included? the rep just responds "I don't know, but that is the only cable promotion going on now".

Who is dumb enough to actually pay $70 a month for $35 worth of service?

Heh, i just got a special for digital silver plus for 25.00 a month for a year. Plus my internet for 39.99 as it normally is. Sounds like you got a lazy tech.

that is what the package was called, digital silver.....

comcast fvcking blows. They make their money by ripping people off, shamming them, making empty promises, forcing you to pay months of service after you cancel the account and otherwise being massive scumbags.

I pay 140 bucks a month for Extended Cable, Digital Silver, and HSI. It's a fvcking ripoff, but there's nobody else around to get service from. I guess I could try DirecTV, but I don't hear many good things about them either.

call them back and complain

i've had to call them 3 times already about my cable internet.. none of the technicians can figure out what's wrong with it.. godo job technicians.. it still doesn't work, and has hardly worked at all for about a week.. worst part is that i'm paying for on demand, and that doesn't work cause i can't connect to their servers... i'm about to give up on them

I'm paying ~$50 for DirecTV Total Choice+Locals+HBO+Showtime plus two DirecTivos. No complaints.

Yeah, that sounds pretty lame. I'm paying $55 a month with Charter to get Basic + Expanded + HBO, Cinemax, and Starz including on-demand for a full year.

yeah, we also got cable internet via best buy just last week. We install it and we were having troubles getting it up. We call Comcast and they said that our brand new modem, which was still in shrink wrap was under some one elses name. I asked who the name was and they said it was me, even though all things that are cable have been under my g/f's name in our new apartment. They then proceed to tell us that we have to sign these release waivers to get teh modem in my g/f's name. Well, my g/f calls again today and the guy over the phone just tells us that the person who assisted us with cable internet wasted our time and that those papers she filled out was something to take legal action on me. What horrid customer service.

Well I switched from DTV to Cable. I get the same amount of channels that I did with DTV, but I also get a reduction on my overall bill and on the cable. With DTV I was paying $124 a month (for what I get with Comcast - movie channels, digital, HD channels) and $55 for my Internet Cable. Now I'm paying $135 for all of that (including HD receivers and recorders).

While I don't really think that highly of comcast....I do save almost $40 a month using them instead of DTV.

I was going to switch from DSL to cable modem. I called Comcast and they said it would be over a month and a half before a tech come install the service. I told them I could do it myself. She claims that a tech must be onsite for the initial install. What the huck?

Cablevision (if it's available) is best option, IMO, especially if you go for their triple play (io digital cable, optimum online, and optimum voice). Price is $30 each for a year, but then goes to normal price (which is still good deal).

just go to bestbuy or circuit city and get the installlation disc. It's free if you sign up there.

I'm surprised they said that. My dad is a tech and they have him working 6 days a week, and we are having almost a shortage (don't want to call it that, because the numbers aren't that low) of techs around here. Where abouts do you live?
