halflife 2 supports it, doom3 supports it. how come not bf2? dont you think it would be awesome hearing a plane zoom by or a missile going right passed your head?

What audio setup are you using? I am getting true surround ingame with a 5.1 HT system.

It's in the audio options, software/hardware (EAX)/Hardware (EAX something else).

Strangely enough it doesn't sound as clear as DC on hardware.

BF2 uses OpenAl. I don't think BF1942 did. Hardware mode may require both hardware audio (duh) but also driver support for that hardware. But I notice the EAX option is available even with software mode. However, I would not expect surround with four channels. Positional sound does not require surround so perhaps it would be best to set such a system to two instead.

surround works on mine but enabling EAX causes these constant, non-stop clicking noises in game. is this happening to anyone else with EAX on?

Actually, those Hercules/Crystal cards do not support the hardware option, according to the Readme. Even if it did, it would not have EAX 4 support.

Queer thing is that CMSS-3D is actually supposed to be enabled from the console for Audigy cards -however from the way it is listed seems to imply only the original Audigy not the 2 or 4. I have never heard of a game where that was the case and understood that even if it was enabled (as default) it would not affect games as it would have a negative impact. Many folks figger it has a negative impact on even music and choose to disable it anyway. Perhaps the technology is actually used in BF2 but not exactly in the same way and only the original Audigy drivers require it to be manually enabled in the console.

Nope.
I have an Audigy 1 with Logitech z-5300's. (They use analog.)

What are you using?
