How does audio get from SATA DVD-RW to Sound card?

I was looking at a Liteon SH-16A7S SATA DVD-RW and noticed that there is not an audio cable or place to plug in an audio cable on the rear of the device. If you want to play a CD or DVD, does anyone know how the audio gets from the player to the sound card?

thru the sata cable..should be enabled by default

IIRC it should be processed and go through the system bus to the sound cards output. I haven't used the audio out on my cd/dvd drives for a very long time. Not sure if or when they were ever required to get sound to the sound card. Might have been for way back when it would strain it to process the sound on top of other process.

Some one correct me if I'm wrong.
