I haven't looked into this myself, since I only have gmail for internet email.
However, my gf wants a new smartphone. She thought about an iphone, but remember how dreadful at&t was to her. So she said an iphone is out.
Any thoughts? Does Samsung's Galaxy phones have a better client, if the stock Android one sucks.
Hmmm, wondering if she'll like a WP7 phone.

--edit--she is on tmobile.

What "sucks" about the standard client?

You can use regular POP if you want, but if you use Gmail with an Android phone you get realtime email sync, plus contacts and calendar. There is K9 Mail if you want an free alternative client.

Forward all your POP mail to a gmail account and forget about it.

This is the solution I've taken...helps in migrating my old 1997 hotmail account to my 2010 gmail account (and helping my boss migrate from his PAID AOL email to his new, FREE, gmail account).

Works. Works every time. Works fast.
