How does AM2/DDR2 compare with 939/DDR?

I was wondering if anyone has seen an article comparing these two combos because I'm curious if the DDR2 makes a difference if both cpus are OC'd to a similar level. I'm currently using a skt 939 X2 3800+ with PC3200 and was curious how it compares to the AM2 version running a higher DDR2 ram. Thanks.

If you're going to get DDR2 then you should get a Conroe. Conroe is the only CPU out there that actually uses it for any peformance gain. If you're going to fret on extra 1/4 a second transcoding or 1 FPS in a game , then why waste your money?

I saw a couple of comparisons, back when AM2 first debuted. There was absolutely no difference, at least in performance. The AM2's obviously did better in synthetic memory bandwidth, but there weren't any real world apps that gave AM2 any advantage.

Thanks for the info regs. I am waiting for the E4300 to come out on Monday after seeing it get OC'd to 3.4Ghz at Xbitlabs. Thanks again.
