How does a 'thank you' note and some wine sound?

The guy i asked for the letter is a doctor. I don't see him on a regular basis. It's not like he's my boss and i can work extra hard to repay the favor. But i know i should give him something.

If someone asked you for a letter of rec, what would be a nice way they could thank you?

too much. Just say thanks next time you see him, or send him a note if you have to. no gifts though.
