I'm just wondering how a machine gun works (i.e. what's inside that makes it fully automatic?) Semi-automatics are easy to comprehend: pull the trigger, hammer hits primer, single bullet fires. But what about fully automatic guns? I'm thinking maybe the kick from firing the bullet is used to pull back the hammer and fire the next round. But if that were the case, you wouldn't be able to stop the stream of bullets once you fire the first one. Anyone know how they work?
