I wish there was an ethical way to run an experiment wherein you observe a baby who grows up with literally no human interaction.

It doesn't necessarily...it actually takes a lot of practice and effort to get the baby to nurse. There are even "lactation consultants."

Not my son, he came out of the womb hungry, he latched right on and went to town. So much so that we contemplated naming him Hoover or Kirby. :D

due to inability to nurse?

where did you read that? just curious.

Like someone said "many didn't," but I would guess it was with "a lot of practice and effort."

In actuality, there have always been "lactation consultants" - they just didn't have the fancy title.

I am just going off stuff I have read (don't have specifics in front of me), and from personal experience. A family member came REALLY close to losing a baby who refused to nurse. They had to medically force feed the baby, and eventually, a lactation specialist was able to get the baby to nurse normally.

Its easy to get a baby to nurse. Cover the tit in honey or sugar. The baby will suck automatically. To ween the baby off, start coating the tit with something bitter.

You know, I'll be honest. It doesn't take sugar or honey to get my lips locked on. Additionally, if you coat it with something bitter (like beer) I'll probably never let go.

:awe:

I would say Instinct just like human babies know to. Seen a woman on tv that was a mother who let her children get breast milk until they didn't want it. One of her children stopped at around 7. I really don't see a problem with anyone breast feeding sense it is their body and they are the mother. It may seem odd or strange but technically it really isn't. Can't remember how long her second child did. Though it is a sign of comfort I would say. Really not sure never was breast fed so I wouldn't know. Not all mothers want to do that which is their chose.

Tits and milk are awesome. How else do you think we're supposed to eat our cereal?

Can you legally perform weird experiments like that in international waters? Like, could some crazy research group setup a research vessel in the Atlantic Ocean and do crazy unethical experiments?

I read a research on something similar this before. I don't recall at what age the child subject was removed from human care and placed into observation, but I remember reading stuff like it would poop anywhere, eat its own defecation, scream like a wild animal, no understanding of anything within the room at all. Subject was fed through a small slit in the door. Wouldn't grasp an understanding of any of the simple puzzles or toys in the room.

After I finished reading that journal, I really felt that humans were simply animals with the ability to learn things that separates us from being completely feral.

I thought boobies were naturally covered in honey and sugar.
