Always hate to see good members go. I have been a member of other boards and I have seen flamers and lamers come and go. Unfortunately, sometimes they make other folks go too - sometimes folks who really contribute to a community and freely share their knowledge and opinions with others. And let's face it -- we all have some of both, some knowledge and some opinions. And sometimes, we mix the two up. Regardless, both can be helpful. Though I don't always post as often as I'd like -- sometimes due to ignorance of a topic, sometimes because what I would say hads been said, sometimes due to a lack of time -- it's not because I don't think these forums are immensely valuable. They are. Even though I have given up on others, I always come back to the Anandtech Forums. If I have something to contribute to a thread, I always try to (even if it is just a little humor), if not, I'll read on and try to learn something new, maybe ask a question or two. Never had a visit where I didn't learn something here. One member used to have a funny sig. that denounced all the major recognized certifications in favor of the RTFM method of learning computers... Certainly one could change it and decry some of those certs in favor of these forums. I frequently learn more here in an afternoon than in a week of expensive training classes.
The resources in this virtual community always amaze me. I work in and around computers all day, every day. The folks I work with are generally knowledgeable and willing to share their knowledge (it's not the private sector). Still, the folks here on these boards often have more collective knowledge than our whole IT staff combined -- 44k+ computer people are likely to know more than 30 or so, every time -- but the coolest thing is that they are also *always* willing to share that knowledge. People here know stuff about anything and everything. It's awesome and it trounces other boards I have joined -- only to leave soon after, disappointed. I have yet to find a group of people who are, on the whole, more knowledgeable and more willing to share their hard-earned wisdom. Anytime a community like this loses somebody like that, everyone suffers. Sometimes emotions run hot, but in the bigger picture, we all benefit from helping each other out. Take some time to think about it, but I hope to see you around these boards again one day.

Sheesh! was that sappy or what? Sorry.
I really just wanted to stay "Can't we all just get along?"
Yikes! There I go again.
In all seriousness, though, these boards represent an awesome community. Let's not diminish it by letting emotional exchanges drive helpful contributing members out. Give it some thought.
