How do you unclog your sinuses

So I got over a cold/flu earlier this week. But my sinuses are still incredibly clogged. I haven't been able to hear out of my right ear for about 2 days now. Everything else is better now and I feel much better, I don't really want to go to the doctors unless I have to.

Just curious if someone has some thoughts on things I can do to unclog my ears, and hopefully be able to taste/smell food again ASAP. I first contracted it last thursday, so its been a week now and all the other symptoms went away earlier this week.

My ears being clogged is driving me crazy though.

I like to take 2 extra strength Tylenol Cold and Flu and then 2 tablespoons of extra strength DM cough syrup, and 2 extra strength Neo-Citron. I then sit in my Lay-Z-Boy and vegetate the night away.....

Order yourself up some hot wings (hottest you can get) or Indian food. That'll unclog them for sure.

Would Sudafed help, or is there something else either home type remedy or over the counter I can do?

I've tried popping my ears, but there is just entirely too much preasure in my sinuses and you can damage your ear doing it that way Triumph. I know, I'm a scuba diver so my ears have already had their fair share of that.

I thought of that. I don't really like REALLY spicy food, I'm usually a wuss in that dept. I can eat most wings, but I have to have something pretty darn spicty to get rid of this mess. But I'll probably have my dad make me up some really hot green chili if I have to. It would be worth it in this case.

Sudafed should help. Works well for me anyway. YMMV.

Spicy hot food is also potentially helpful.

Any kind of pseudoephedrine should help. But different people have different reactions. Even for me sometimes it works great, sometimes it does nothing. Hope it helps you.

yeah, this also works wonders. be careful with putting too much in your nose though or you'll feel it in your throat and it's kind of unpleasant.

It sounds like you have middle ear infection.
You should go to the doctor asap to get some antibiotics prescription. That's the only way to get the ears unclogged. If that doesn't work, they'll have to surgically install a tube on your ears to drail out the fluid that built up in your middle ear.

NO! That'll make it worse. His ears clogged isn't due to elevation pressure, but nasal fluid has gone from his nasal cavity into his middle ear.

I didn't think this would work initially, but it does:

I've always suffered from Hay fever and stuffed up nose/sinuses since I was a kid. Been through a battery of allergy pills (Claritian, Demazine, etc) over 35 years or so.

My wife's always been concerned with prescription drugs and what they do to your body in the background of treating the symptoms, so she started working at a health food/herbal remedy store part time. The guy who owns it is quite smart and very accurate in his recommendations.

Sinufix. that's the stuff. It's an herbal remedy that kicks ass! I used to get sinus headaches quite frequently, probably due to me moving from Chicago to Seattle and the abrupt environment change. I haven't had one since I've been on this stuff. Best thing, it's all natural... and has no harmful side effects.

I highly recommend it. Give it a try.

I use the sinus rinse kit above. Recommended by the ENT that did my endoscopic sinus surgery. It takes some getting used to, but it sooths irritated sinuses, and gets more junk out than blowing. I highly recommend using it whenever exposed to dust or pollen (say when cleaning the house/garage/etc). It really cut down the number of colds I get in a year.

Seriously? Primatine mist. It works nearly instanteously. Its really for asthmatics so I don't know the side effects if you use it regularly. I use it once in a while when I am stuffed up or have a bad allergic reaction.

I'm hoping its not that. I've had it before that the sinuses are putting preasure on the ear, and it wasn't an ear infection. But if its still around tomorrow I'm going to just suck it up and make an appointment.

Just took some 12 hour sudafed type stuff, so hopefully that will do something.
