what have you personally done to make winxp faster, sleeker, prettier, etc? give detailed instructions, too, so all of us can benefit!

set sharing and permissions to be "advanced"
removed MSN messanger
 
Display properties > Themes > Windows Classic
My computer > Properties > Advanced > Performance Settings > disable lots of fading this or sliding that options.
 
If your asking on how to tweak XP (not why is xp gay, and why you should install 2k instead, which some people seem to think you are...) then I'd suggest dumbing down the gui, and maybee even trying out tweak ui, or tweak xp... I've heard good things about from friends... Never tried them out myself though...
