Please stop.

Nothing worse than stepping in a sticky mess of half-dried soda, latte or not-so-smoothie in a parking lot, on a sidewalk or anywhere else.

Trash receptacle, please.

OK.........

he'd have to see the law affirming where you own the pavements, or your aesthetic comfort matters....

I finish the drink, then dump the ice into a sink if there is one around. If not, into the trash with the leftover ice. But I usually eat most of the ice if I'm sitting there talking with no drink left.

I pour it out in the machine I get the soda from, then throw the cup away. I figure less weight in the trash for the people who empty them.
Um, most soda machines don't have drains (maybe Costco does, but most restaurants don't have drains on their machines). Some poor worker has to sop up that mess you just poured all over their machine. It would be far kinder to the worker to just put it in the trash.

Or do as I do and only get the amount you want to drink.

I make sure to throw it away upside down, or I take the lid off before throwing my half full cup into the trash can. I worked fast food at a couple of points in my life and had to deal with the messy liquid filled trash bags. Now I'm just paying it forward and making sure the next generation gets to experience the same thing. It builds character in our younger generation.

You are in a fast food place. You just finished eating your meal. You have a soft drink and some has been left over.

How do you dispose of it?

If there is no self pour fountain, I stuff a bunch of paper tissues into the cup before throwing it away. Otherwise, I pour out the remaining drink before discarding everything into the trash.

I remember seeing a fast food worker once pull a bag of trash and it was 1/4 full of soda. Imagine that sucker popping or springing a leak.

Also, if I am out in the street and I need to throw a drink away, I'll pour it out on the street before throwing away the drink container into one of the sidewalk trash bins.

I DON'T dispose of it. I gets me a refill cus I live in the US of F ing A! :awe:

Screw Europe and their lack of Diabeetus.

The trash. Those liners are designed to hold a fair amount of liquid.

Even if you finish the drink you're still throwing away the ice, which melts...

How is this even a problem? LOL@ quarter of soda in a bag, do the math on the size of the bag and come back. Quarter of it's weight in liquid? Maybe.

what kind of place are you at that the soda machine doesn't have a drain? of course it has a drain. ice falls out of the hopper, fountains leak, etc.

anyway, i take it with me.

Virtually all restauarants (especially ones built before the boom in self-serve machines). They have the flexibility to put the machines anywhere, but there isn't necessarilly a drain whereever you might want a soda machine. They have essentially a drip tray to catch some splashes and dropped ice cubes. But that is about it in most cases.

why are you in the back dumping out your coke, then? let the bus boy handle it.

I don't quite follow your statement. I clearly stated that I only take soda from self-serve machines that I intend to drink. I am not dumping them.

The only time I was "in the back" of a restaurant is when I worked in restaurants. Restaurants (a couple of Arby's restaurants) that didn't have drains on the soda machines.

Most of the time I completely finish the drink I purchased...but if for some strange reason I do not then I just throw whatever is left in the cup away without emptying it.

No response for pouring it into the trash and keeping the cup? I use the cup for various household things like watering plants, giving my dogs a bath, etc....

if those machines are mostly in the back (as self-serve machines pretty much all have drains) then this statement:
Some poor worker has to sop up that mess you just poured all over their machine.
mostly means you're in the back.

No, they don't mostly have drains. We see now where you were logically incorrect. Thanks for clearing that up for ATOT.

He's right, only recently built (last 5 or so years) fast food places will have have drains on the self-serve machines.

While it's more and more common to see them with drains, there's still plenty w/o.

Some may LOOK like they drain, but they are not connected to actual plumbing drains, so cleaning them means taking the tray out and putting it DOWN a drain, and then cleaning it manually, flushing that DOWN a drain.

The ones that actually have piped drains, well that's great.

i throw it in the trash where it goes.

and i'm sure you saw someone pull out a trashbag that was 1/4 full of soda ... sure ya did.

I used to work at a Mc D's, he's not exaggerating. People are disgusting wasteful pigs. I always finish my food/drink or take it with me if I have to.

I finish it or I die trying... Seriously, I used to get a lot of Burger King in junior high. There was always a rush to finish the drink for some reason. It was usually Coke or something else carbonated, which meant my stomach was filled with gas. This led to many bouts of "I gotta take a shit so bad" feeling that could not actually be relieved by letting loose on a shitter. Then I learned to shake all the air out of the beverage THEN drink it fast.

At a fast food place I'll normally just throw it in the trash because there's not really a convenient place to dump it. Typically the trash is on the way out so just throw it in. Though usually if there's a decent amount left in it I'll take it with me.

At work or at home I'll empty it in the sink first though.

Only situation where I need to throw out a drink that still has some left is if I forgot about it, or if it's a warm drink that's now cold and has so little left that it's not even worth warming it back up.

I find some people are bad for not finishing drinks. They'll leave half full cans of pop everywhere etc. I don't get this.

If I happen to have some pop left over and don't wanna take it with me, it just goes in the trash. I don't think I've ever seen anyone do anything different (pour it out first).
