As usual your IQ is so high I can't make sense of your post.

I think he was making an avatar reference.
Not only that, which explains the high IQ, but I was also refering to his Avatar.

The simplest things can be very hard sometimes.

same. i have a pair of fake oakleys. they are very obviously fake. plasticky, cheap quality. they suck. from looking at these, these look fake too. the overall quality just doesnt cut it.

First of all, Oakleys are not comparable to $10-$15 glasses, they are actually much nicer. Next, this might be a stupid reason, but I feel good when I have them on. Kinda like a status symbol. I know thats very materialistic, but I'm sure people with a benzo or a beemer feel good when they drive those, even though something simpler such as an Accord would have been fine.

I had a real pair of eyejackets and the difference between the real and fakes was that the real ones said eyejacket on the plastic part of the ear piece inside.

Actually, Oakley does put made in the USA on the inside of the edit: <LEFT> earpiece... BUT It is completely straight with a font that is identical and very evenly spaced. His is odd sized, not in a line, and very squished.
My minutes do have the word minute on them, it is very small, and I mistoke it for bumps! :(
There seems to be a glob on the bottom of the glases, the molding is perfect on oakleys.
Also, the plastic ear pieces seem to have holes in them? There are no holes on real oakleys.

Definately contact the seller, he sold you fakes.

Definately FAKE! I have the exact same pair of the blue frame minutes! They lasted me about 6 months and then the frame snapped in half one time when I put them on because of the head im guessing............also leave them in the car long enought and the crappy rubber surrounding starts melting! Thats when you know they are foakleys!

Only people that wear Oakleys around here are rednecks, wiggers, or hispanics. Oakleys went out of style in the late 90's

Maybe they don't put them on Why3s? All I know is my Minutes were purchased at REI :) They have Made in the USA on them, but like I mentioned, they are perfect spacing and ideal text size... where as his are all squishe and seem different sized letters. :)

Actually, looking at my Juliets, they also have made in the USA on them too, perfect spacing too...

Definately not true, I don't see how redneck would know about oakleys, that'd be too different for them. :) and wouldn't match their shotgun.

And they derfinately didn't go out of style in the 90's or the wouldn't be selling now for the prices they are.

thanks guys.

I sent him the thread link last night but he hasn't responded yet. Hopefully he'll respond soon.

Thanks again!

I'm currently uploading pics of my Oakley Minutes - Silver/Ice. I'll post a link.

Also, you can DEFINTELY tell the difference in the O's on each pair.

EDIT:

Okay, here are my glasses. I bought them directly from Oakley.com last October, so I know they're the real thing. Let's nab this trader.

BEAUTIFUL glasses, those are very nice. I love the look of minutes (hence why I bought mine). My ONLY wish is that, at least when I bought mine, that they would have made polarized sunglasses in a different lense color than black ird. :) My friend has the emerald lenses and they look superb (he bought them once he saw my glasses). I wish they polarized all colors. Those are ICE lenses right? My juliets are polarized ice, I was so happy when I found out they polarized different lenses on the Juliets.

Hmph, maybe I'll dig out my cam later tonight, I'm packing to move, but well see.

jumpr, you bought them in Oct? Do they have made in U.S.A on the left earpiece soft plastic thing? Mine were bought in July 3 years ago... so they might have changed it, someone mentioned their Why3s don't have it, do your minutes have it? I know my minutes and juliets both do.

Thanks!

Nope, they don't say "Made in USA." Yeah, I would have liked to get polarized as my job requires lots of driving at dawn and dusk, but I had my heart set on silver/ice, and they didn't come in polarized.

My current pair of Silver/Ice A-Wire 2.0's don't have any of the markings you described and I bought them last August. The previous Gold/Platinum A-Wire's I had were purchased in December of 2000 and they didn't have them either. Don't know if it's only done on the plastic frame Oakley's or not.

Personally I'd go with box/literature/etc first before sunglasses only

People buy them because they are SUPER nice, 1000 times better than 10-15 dollar things, and quite a bit nicer than 50-75 dollar glasses (other nice name brand ones). I hate people that say that cause they've never worn them. I could no way go back to anything but Oakley quality (not just oakley) sunglasses, the clarity and quality amazes me. I look through regular sunglasses and feel like going Oedepous (spelling?) Rex on my eyes... ugh, to see like that is torture.

And because you paid out the butt (just like every other oakley owner... ;) ) you are MUCH more careful with them, my sunglasses are 3 years old and look perfect, not one scratch on the lense, or anything. My other pair, Juliets are new, but no scratches either. However, before, I'd go through, oh about 3-4 15-30 dollar sunglasses because I would be careless with them. Just take care of oakleys and they'll last a lifetime. And what you get in return is well worht the money.

It's like buying a BMW over a Ford/Chevy/Whatever ... Both cars work, and get you where you're going... but there are things the BMW has over the plain jane cheaper Fords/Chevys/Honda/etc ...

It's like buying a ATI9700 when a 4meg video card does everything the ATI does (minus video games...) ... its 10 bucks compared to 400 ... :)

You are a complete imbecile. You resort to calling me names and then you agree with the user who basically says the same thing I did? Give me a break. I am surprised you even own a pair of Oakleys. Your example of the video card is rediculous. How would any decently knowledgeable person receive a S3 card and be fooled that it is an ATI card? You can even run a search for a modern ATI card and notice the circuit board looks nothing like the S3 card.

I am trying to help the buyer out, rather than have him believe the trash you are spewing. A narcissistic outburst if I've ever seen one.

Ha, you make me laugh, you can look the sunglasses up online (many REAL pictures and not rendered) and see that the oakleys are flawless... but still people buy the fake ones thinking they are real (in this case, NOT the original poster).
And yes, the video card analagy holds. Did the post have any real knowledge of oakleys, has he worn any before, seen real ones before? If not then it might not be hard to fool someone, considering there are some very good knockoffs (in looks). Someone who's NEVER seen a ATI card nor looked at them online (real pictures) might not know that they were getting a fake, jeesh, you act like you've NEVER been new at anything and have all that is to know since you were a fetus. Get off the high horse bud.

No, you said what I said was a load of bull, there is a difference between saying what someone says is bull, and that there is still the chance of being frauded even if everything comes with the glasses. You my friend are the imbecile, I cannot help it if you cannot descern the difference between the two. How else would you reccomend someone not get frauded? To just buy whatever they saw? How does that help anyone? At least you have a MUCH better chance of getting a real pair when everything comes with it than buying just the sunglasses. How hard is that to comprehend?

I'm not spewing trash, I actually own the same model he has, I have described little details that fake oakleys MIGHT not have, I am trying to help him determine if they are real. But I am also giving sound advice on how to HELP protect yourself. I know my method is not a sure fire way... but it does help.

And yes, as I've stated many times, I own two pairs, polarized minutes and polarized juliets, and when I get home I'll post pictures. Is it hard to believe that someone with common sense might own oakleys? How does that amaze you?

I have the Oakley Why3's

I also hae a pair of Why3's.

The metal on mine is black and the nose bud part is clear/white ish. The other side ear bud parts are red and same with the hinge parts.

On the right side it has "WHY 3", "JAPAN" and "CE"

On the left it has "T30", "Ti Black" and "11-645".

On the bridge part it has a white "O" also.

You can just by the fit and the overal build quality that they are real. The real ones have immaculate finish and molding. The "O" indent is ALWAYS flawlessly made.

Yizzm sorry man they are definately fake. The "O" is a dead giveaway. The ear buds look too hard also. Real ones are very soft.

Hope the seller does something about it!

These are the best shots, but they'll do. I tried my best (lighting SUCKS here in college dorms) to get pics of the made in USA. they aren't high quality by any means, however, I think you'll see that the made in U.S.A on my minutes is nice straight and evenly spaced (and on the Juliets) however, on the OP's minutes they were very squished and uneven.

Again, I am very sorry about some of the pictures quality, the lighting is horrible.

I also uploaded 2 videos of what looking at an LCD through polarized sunglasses looks like ;)

Edit: Movies are large, 3 megs, and not that exciting, don't download if you don't care what LCD/Polarized does. You will be dissapointed :)
Edit 2: Movies are now in Divx 5, 256k :) So go ahead and download them even if you don't care. Lol

Minutes 1

Minutes - Made in USA

Minutes - Reverse - See what looking the OPPOSITE way through Polarized Glasses looks like :)

Minutes - SideView - Can barely see word blur of "Polarized" in lense

Minutes - Can actually read Polarized

Minutes - Another Side ViewMinutes - Straight On

Minutes - LCD/Polarized Video!!!!

Juliets - Can sorta makeout Polarized

Juliets - Straight On - Semi Blurry (Sorry, with a flash, you can't even makeout the glasses)

Juliets - Made in USA

Juliets - LCD/Polarized Video!!!

Yeah I took less pictures of the Juliets due to the fact that the OP has minutes :) But its weird looking at an LCD with polarized sunglasses and tilting your head and watching the LCD go blank :) hehe

Edit: I'm a tard, the "bumps" I thought could have been a symbol do say minutes, it's very small however ... oy!
