How do you succeed at school?

I tell myself study study study, but it all ends up as time on the computer. I've tried to manage my time a lot already and it never works out. I don't seem to have any sort of inspiration to work hard at school.

Throwing away the computer would probably work for me, but its not gonna happen.

I just got off of academic probation in my college, and I plan to keep it that way, but I never make time to study so it might be a challenge for me...

Anyone else out there struggling?

Honestly, I didn't study for ANY of my classes this semester and I pulled a B average in ALL of them :) It might have been a low B and I had to plea with some of my teachers to bump it up one point, but it's still a B :)

Sexuall favors can go a longggggg way.

I have the same problem as you... I just go to the library and study there. I am free of distractions so I can concentrate on homework.

The most I studied this year was probably 15 minutes before a test, sometimes for subjects like Spanish I didn't study at all (and ended up getting a 98.68% in btw :p). I studied an hour at most for all of my finals combined, and got a B or above on all of them.

I don't really know. I spend a pretty good amount of time doing work, I'd say. What seemed to work the best, though, was when I took the same classes as my roommate. We worked on the classes together and studied for the tests together. I did a lot better than I think I could have done on my own.

Gulf Coast Community College - Computer Science (going to transfer to the Panama City FSU Branch for college Juniors and Seniors after next year). This semester was cake though - just American Gov't, Western Civ. 2, Geology, and Art :p My last semester was pretty easy too, I didn't study and I got two A's and two B's in English Comp 2, Advanced Visual Basic, Computer Applications (I had to take it :( ), and Psychology.

But, I don't put as much of a workload on myself as most students do - I figure, if I'm getting a free ride through college, I might as well take it easy :p Plus I also work a full time job, so any more classes will not fit into my schedule. I agree with what everyone else is saying about listening skills - if you are ginuenly interested in the class and put a good deal of effort into paying attention, you really won't have to study.

Listening in class is the key to kicking ass....in school

*Reminisces about Honors Vector Calculus course*

*Looks at cumulative GPA*

I'd have to say no there.

Tried that, I never miss class. My attention span only goes so far. I either start falling asleep, or think about what I had for lunch. I really gotta fix it, I don't wanna screw up anymore.

Just focus, try to make college enjoyable though. You are learning man, and you really don't have as much pressure as u will once u get to the "real world." Stay organized, and relax. You know how to do it, you know you do...take our advice iwth a grain of salt..do what has worked for you in the past. Try not to worry though, you are too young!

Don't study in your room. Do you work elsewhere. If there's a major distraction like a computer you're never going to get work done.

Sounds weird but I can't study at the library either. My mind wanders off too easily. I think I need one of those army commanders yelling at the top of their lungs.

I really have to learn how to focus. That's probably my main problem right now.

Read about it a while back in a different thread. I don't believe in it. If there's something that interests me, I listen. Learning about how to deliver a good speech however, I don't care, thus I don't pay attention.
