I know there is a HUGE difference in my cats between eatting Cat Chow and IAMS. They seem to crap about 1/3 less and they never fart while eatting IAMS. Cat Chow on the other hand makes them create havoc. I hate having to deal with a litter box after they have Cat Chow.

My new kitten is eatting Kitten Chow and she farts but for some reason she refuses to eat IAMS kitten food. I refuse to pay the prices for science diet.

While this is possible, if his cat is farting that much and that frequently, he should have noticed the worms. Of course unless he just doesn't pay attention. When I got a kitten recently, she had worms and it did not take but a day or two to realize.

I thought that all pet foods were just a bunch of by-products. But yes, I've actually been told that Purina One is better than Iams. It's hard to believe when it's more expensive. Of course, I can't tell. I don't eat the stuff.

I have a 2 year old cat and an 9 month old kitten. It's almost impossible to feed them seperate foods. I had them both eating Nutro kitten food, but the adult was gaining too much weight, so now they're eating Purina One kitten food. The adult was eating Iams kitten as a baby, and later, Iams adult food, until the new kitten came along. I'm probably going to stick with Purina One now, unless I discover any problems. I don't like paying more than Purina One costs, but I'd change to Nutro or Science Diet if I had to. It's not as if cat food is a HUGE expense.

OK, that's a good suggestion. Anyone have a particular preference for one of these? My vet says my younger one's gums and teeth are going bad so I need something that helps the tartar too.

. Iams is good stuff but expensive (like almost $9 for a small bag, I believe). We've been feeding our cats Purina One (the weight management formula, since our 1-year old seems to be getting chubby already). All 3 cats (the two older ones and the little one) were all eating Purina Kitten Chow until the baby turned a year old. I can't think of any specific cat food off the top of my head that controls tartar, but there are a lot of kitty treats out there that have tartar control versions (Temptations, Whisker Lickin's, etc.). I'm sure there's a tartar control cat food that you can feed them everyday, though.

Also, as far as the farting issue, I've heard that feeding kitties wet food a lot can cause this to happen. If you feed them wet food a lot, I would lay off it because wet food is supposed to be bad for their teeth if they eat it all the time (gets caught in their mouth and causes decay). We normally leave a bowl of dry food out for the cats all the time and give them kitty treats or a small portion of wet food for each cat once in a while.
