None really, I use to play basketball alot, but have gained too much weight to really enjoy that anymore.

Eating properly will help the weight also.

i just dont know. maybe its coz i actually spend more time doing things like, spending time with mates/gf, spend alot of time training. and not alot of time infront of a computer.

Well..I am sort of a uber geek I guess, though not as bad as some, my social life is non-existant and I tend to play computer gamnes 5-6 hours a day spending the rest of time going to work. I am going to Uni for engineering which is good, but currently live at home at 21, after moving out, I moved back in to save money (which I have). Im also typicall of gamers overweight, but most problems I can pinpoint to computer game addiction and little willpower. Im pretty sure there are a few more people on this board like me, that won't post, so maybe they can get some advice too...

Describe your personal functionality (obviously, leave out embarassing details). I see you say you have a problem with willpower, but are there other aspects of yourself that are lacking (in a reflexive respect)?

I have about 3 friends I talk to regularily, about a dozen who would become freinds with a little effort. Other than willpower I really have no other problems, Im self confident, not shy, somewhat self consious but not to a disabling degree. I suppose a first start would be to work on those dozen people who could easily become friends and cement those three.

I think the first step to solving your problem is to realize that being a geek isn't your real problem, it's the things that sometimes come along with being a geek that are hurting you. If you are unhappy as a fat, social inept, computer game playing geek, changes are you'd be better off changing the first two rather than the last one. Being a geek isn't a bad thing, in many cases it's just another trait.

The real problem is the things that people assume come along with being a geek, most often a distinct lack of friends and athletic pursuits. There is no rule that you can't be a social, athletic geek. Sure, it isn't exactly the norm, but it can be done. The first step, however, is coming to the realization that your problems will be solved by trying to not be interested in computers.
