Truman, without a doubt. Like a kid with a toy, he HAD to use it. And he used Muslim tactics in that he tried to kill the maximum possible number of civilians. And the kick in the face is that the history books justify it, at least in the states.

Georgie isn't far behind though.

Well if he hadn't had done it many more would had gotten killed on both sides what with the excess fire bombings we would had to do, and these killed more people then the 2 nukes combined, and the loss during the invasions.

Many historians agree on that point for obvious reasons.

for a paper...the sentence is "...prouncing his w's in the proper fashion..." but i got marked off for not speljavascript:insertText('FTVAR_MESSAGETEXTFRM','','');ling the "W" correctly...how do you spell it?

You probably got "marked off" for not correctly putting the "w's" in quotes, not mispelling it, as that is the proper grammatical play in this case.

You do realize that misapprehending why you got marked down gets you marked down more, right?

Right?

In Vietnamese it is pronounce (French base) dou ble vey (vey is v phonetically).

In French, it's more like "doub-lah veh."

In German, "Fow" with a short 'o' as in "ow" but really more like "foul" with most of the 'l' attenuated. And 'v' is prounounced liked "veh."

So, in German VW is pronounced "Fou(l) Veh."

Ya, sicher. 😉

I always wondered why the english language does that to the letter W

(F.Y.I. in dutch the W is pronounced as "way" with the W as bit harder.)

yeah? yeah?!

In Russian, the "w" letter is pronounced "sh" as is "shoo", and a modified version of "w" with a tail, that is pronounced "sh-sh", like shoosh shoo

duh.
Which is why I doubt 50-100 years from now Bush will be looked at in an overly harsh light.
Obama, on the other hand, allowing/pushing for so much money to go into the private bank sector... he'll probably be blamed for socialist practices.
Not quite a fan of LBJ for some of the social-programs of the Great Society... but whatever.

Just as now, everyone seems to want to cling to Clinton at the level of being some kind of modern prophet... yet many of his policies, and the policies approved by him, helped get us to where our economy is right now - in the shithole. And many policies were far older than his Presidency.

Point being - how well a President appears to do a job, and how well the President actually does do the job... can sometimes be quite different.
That is all. Back to w's.

You're thinking of ? 😉
If they came across a W, I'd assume they'd probably say it like germans, or poles, or whatever. like a V.

Letters are the building blocks of words, so how can you ask someone to spell a letter? Sure, you can come up with a word whch works, phonetically, but you can't spell a letter other than just using the letter! Worst teacher ever.

Wow, I get to correct Perk, I feel special.

In German, "v" is "fow", "w" is "veh". You were backwards, though you got it right when you mentioned VW. 😛

you... don't? I've always been told that if you're talking about the letter, you can't 'spell' the letter out based on how it sounds. You just put it's something similar to just "w's" but I'm not sure the correct punctuation for it.

Scrabble rules show that letters can be spelled out. "Z" is spelled "Zee" for example. When writing a paper though, you don't spell these things out.

double-u I suppose.
And you can spell letters. I once saw someone miss the letter "h" on the national spelling bee. It was spelled "aitch".
