So I gut stuck in an aisle seat for the redeye from San Francisco back to the east coast tonight. I always sit in the window seat because it's easy to sleep, how do you sleep comfortably in an aisle seat? Do those silly looking neck ring pillow things work?

I stretch my legs out in the aisle. Sure I trip anyone who walks by but I'm comfortable.

My wife uses the neck pillow thing and sleeps on just about any flight we take, so it works for her.

I really enjoy flying, but simply can't sleep on a plane. I always request an aisle seat because I like to be able to get up and walk to bathroom or stretch my legs without making everyone else in the row get up.

It's absolutely impossible for me to sleep on a plane. Even after 5 days in Vegas of no sleep, and taking the red eye.

remember to keep your elbows in - otherwise the cart will bang them and wake you up.

how do people sleep on planes period.

i wish i could sleep on planes but i can't no matter how tired I am.

sometimes I can get like 10 or 15 mins of straight sleep, but never for like a couple hours.

I can't sleep in coach.

I can get maybe 10-30 mins of restless "sleep" at a time. The neck pillow hurts more than it helps.

Since I've never flown first class, I don't know if I could sleep there either, but it definitely can't be worse than never.

WEAK! i've done like 10 hours in a row on pacific flights. Yes international flights have a little larger coach seats, but the last time I flew from NYC, I fell asleep before we even took off (damn the long taxi lines at JFK), and I woke up when we landed. I was pretty pissed I didn't get woken up for my meal =[ food I paid for!

heavy sleeper ftw though. i can sleep anywhere.

I just got back from flying also, I could not sleep on the flight at all, the seats were too small for me(Copa Air), every 10 minutes are so there is the beeping sound, always wakes me up

i've been upgraded to first on BA a few times. its pretty easy to sleep since the seats lie flat and you get a nice down blanket. same with business, but the seat is a bit narrower.

I find it difficult to sleep on planes whether I'm in the aisle, middle or window seat. That said, I'm getting used to sleeping on trains, so maybe I'll now be able to sleep on a plane as well.

train seats are way more comfortable than coach seats, in my experience.

I went to Australia in early March. It was 16.5 hours over the Pacific there and back. I didn't sleep a wink. Those neck pillows do nothing for me.

i can't sleep in any coach seat unless i have the row to myself. sitting straight forward, at a paltry 6'3, my knees are jammed into the seat in front of me bad enough that i actually have to lift my feet off the floor.

and that's on like a 737. whatever that little piece of shit is with the two engines on the tail and like four seats to a row, i can barely even sit down in it.

Just snuggle up close to the man sitting next to you. :D

BTW-I have no trouble sleeping on airplanes. I can nod off for an hour or two pretty easily, it's a great way to kill time on those cross country flights. I usually try to get a window seat for this though. I'm guessing this flight is full?

this. I can't sleep at on a plane at all.

OP, you can try to pull out the tray table, lay the pillow across, and rest your head on that--like sleeping on your desk in high school.

Or just punch the window seat person in the kidney until they pass out, and rest your head on their shoulder. :hmm:

I can only sleep in the window seat. But I prefer to sit in the aisle seat.

I sleep like a baby when I have a window seat. I slept for 2.5 hours on the flight out here. I guess I could put my head down on the tray table, reminds me of high school.
