Bingo! Got it. Had to rename the access file in the Apache conf from .htaccess to ht.access - which is what it is actually named on my system!

Sweet! All blockied up now.

MOST the calls to my site originated from 69.18.53.51 (Fairfield, Iowa)
A couple came from 65.93.186.140 (Toronto, Ontario)
And 67.184.91.219 (Arlington Heights, IL)

maybe be a bit careful in posting IPs the same time when you use terms like "underage porn">

it just strook me since Arlington Heights is only a few miles from here and i used to live there once actually.

It would suck if you post (and refer to officials) IPs because you *think* something is going on - maybe rather stay with the facts and show them the pictures and screenname of the person having the pcitures online but NOT giving out IPs just by "guessing" they have something to do with illegal porn !!!

I don't believe the IP is dynamic. Over 3 days, I IM'd this guy the address to 3 different links to different files on my website. In each case, the Iowa address hit it back IMMEDIATELY - within 60 seconds. Same IP each time. The other IPs ended up hitting it shortly thereafter - a matter of hours, generally, and always the same files I linked to the original guy. Almost certainly this was just a case of forwarded links.

But the Iowa guy....SEEMS a static IP address. And, in any case, it wasn't JUST the IP I gave the FBI, but the exact timestamp down to the second the Apache log recorded it. Given that information, even if it WAS dynamic, they could find out what it was (when you log into your ISP with a dynamic IP addresses, they store the times you are logged on with it, and who the address was assigned to).

Of course, I also sent the absolute rock-solid-clear info and links, too. It's the FBI. I suppose I trust them enough to sort out what is legit and what's not.

IF they decide it's legit, it's not like they are going to bust the guy's door down over this alone. They'll take the info to court (what THEY find that makes it clear to them) and get a digital 'wiretap' and watch this guy's goings-on.

EDIT: And I didn't send them the "odd IPs" - the just one I knew for ABSOLUTE SURE was the guy in question.

Hmm, who would be able to do that?

Report this but be careful. It is a crime to look at underage porn even if you do so unwillingly.

Holy thread resurrection, Batman!

No update. But, then, didn't expect there to be. Contacted the FBI office, talked to an agent, sent them all the info I had - links to the site the guy provided me, Apache logs and Yahoo IM logs, etc. Contact Yahoo and let them know about the site, etc.

And that's that, far as I can tell. Heck, couldn't be any more useful if they DID need me for more, as I've sold off the entire computer long ago that had that data on it. I tend to buy/sell/trade systems for roughly equal price every other week or so, so I couldn't even guess where the hard drive is with that data on it any more (not like it would do them any good, I always format the disks before and after triple-data-filling them before I sell them).

Ummm....yeah, I did. Added person to ignore list, haven't heard from them one more peep since the day they tried selling me crap. Sent the stuff to the FBI the same day, and that was that. More than a month ago, now. Have had nothing more to do with any of it at all since then.
