Then I guess it would've been impossible for those cars in 2 Fast 2 Furious to shoot out blue flames unless they rigged a propane/methonal fuel line into the exhaust...

You just answered your own question. For a second there I thought people were trying to help somebody rice their car!

I do know some DSMers and other crazy car nuts that use propane injection (versus water injection) to reduce the chance of detonation at high boost levels. It doesn't cool the intake charge like water does but it is combustible. I doubt that the propane will ever reach back out of the exhaust un-burned though.

Cars that run on alcohol can run on either ethanol or methanol... I guess you might be able to get an alcohol car that rich, but DANG that would hurt the engine. Don't some of the alcohol dragsters shoot blue flames coming off throttle? (Off throttle is when mixture is most rich)

Actually, the blue flame is from the perfect combination of air/fuel.. It doesen't matter what you're burning. But it would be hard to regulate it in your tailpipe. They probably used alcohol in the movie.

If you were to look inside the combustion chamber as your engine is running, you would see a blue flame. Except at idle.

It is different than the dragsters that shoot flame from their headers though.

Ethanol would be better to run, because it isn't toxic and has a slightly higher energy content than methanol.

Most alcohol go-kart engines use methanol though. Not sure why.
