Just curious what you guys think is the preferred way to ship LCD Panels (like the ones in your laptop, minus the case).

So far I put it in a large electronics bag and wrapped it in bubble wrap and put it in a hard cardboard mailer.

The several I've ordered from newegg over the years came packed in hard styrofoam, then, in a box. The box is thicker than most boxes ...

When I needed to send my 24inch LCD back to Acer to get serviced due to issues, I went to the UPS Store and paid out the ass for them to pack it safely, and for insurance and what not .... costed about 1/4 what the monitor was worth ... but I didn't want to take a chance ....

i would take something stiff, if i could, like a ~1/4" sheet of wood, wrap that with bubble wrap, put the screen on top, and wrap with more bubble wrap...then put it in a box stuffed with newspaper so it doesn't move around.

Definitely put something rigid right in front of the screen. You do not want anything to touch the screen should the box it's shipping in become damaged or punctured.

You can get very cheap plywood at a hardware store, that would work. Mutliple sheets of cardboard would probably be ok too.

Aye..it's the trickiest item I have to ship (granted I don't ship any giant TV's or anything..), but individual panels, even when it feels like it has a lot of resistance to pressure always leave me with my fingers crossed.

I bought from some no name reseller, and they just put it in one of those large bubble wrap envelopes, and stuck it in a similar size box. It surprisingly didn't have any damage.

This is why I save the boxes of monitors I buy. Never know when you'll have to ship it for RMA/warranty work, selling it to upgrade, etc.

Nothing better than the box the manufacturer used to pack it originally.

You would put it in a box and go to the Post Office or FedEx/UPS/DHL, etc.

You'll need the address of where you are sending it, and your own address. And you will have to pay money for the service as well, so take some form of payment with you.

Why do I need my own address? I know where I live.

Very good. I got in a lot of trouble shipping one not good enough. Almost a neutral on heat. People want to see you put serious effort in.

Wrap all cables and put then in zip locks individually.

Break down if possible base from monitor.

Shrink wrap it and or bubble the hell out of monitor and base,

Then popcorn it inside box like crazy, all axis, and tight to top.

Triple tape it shut.

Oh, he meant the whole monitor? I retract my post from above then, I thought he meant just an LCD panel from a laptop.

What I received in the bubble envelope was a panel.

You're going to have to put this thing called a "return address" on the package, or it most likely won't be accepted. This is where you would put your own address, so it's good you know where you live because you will need that information.

But then they will know where I live...:sneaky:

I cut 3 pieces of cardboard the size of the screen+bezel and tape around it to keep it on tight.

Be very liberal with the peanuts/newspaper/what-have-you, if you're not, you'll regret it.
