Well, my Tt Xaser III V2000a case has seven 90mm case fans in it and I run them all at full speed. Not that bad of noise IMO but noise is something subjective. Each person has their own tolerance level. The video card is the loudest component actually. My new Enermax Chakra case arrived. It has a 250mm side fan and I'll be adding a front and rear 120mm case fan for it. It should prove to be pretty quiet.

Strangely enough, the video card fan is the loudest fan in my case as well. It's pretty sad.

Fortunately there is a fix for the video cards but so far I havent bothered investing in a GPU cooler. Its not a problem as far as I'm concerned.

Depending on my requirements either fast or quiet.

I have an e6300 that can run stable at an 87%OC. If I am browsing the net, email ect I am in quiet mode. BUT if I crank the OC up I will flip the switches and the turbines start roaring.

Yep mine 7800gt is the loudest in the system, when u play a game u can notice its fan over everything else. Its darn ennoying sometimes.

Right now the current gaming rig has a AGP 7800GS CO Superclock in it so its not too bad. Now the new rig (all components finally arrived) will have the 7600GT KO. I'll let my daughter decide if its too loud or not once I put it all together since its for her anyway. If so then I'll get something aftermarket for it.

I'd hate to go with an aftermarket cooler, as I'm still on the fence about getting a Quadro FX 2k or 3k.

I have a pair of YL D12SL-12 (12V hooked up to a regular molex) for intake and outtake, switching from Panaflo 120mm medium for out and Antec 120mm Tricool @ L. The YLs make a huge difference in white noise. It's very quiet now. I have the Artic Cooling Freezer Pro 7's irregular size 90mm and a 60x10mm for cooling the NB. The 120mm ADDA in the Enhance 500W is inaudible. The X1600Pro video card is cooled by HIS's IceQ cooler, also very quiet. I love my new system! If I were to get the Thermalright Ultra-120 to replace the Freezer Pro 7, I'm gonna put a YL D12SL-12 on it also.

3x YL D12SL-12 in my P-180b case. I also have one on the Big Typhoon. My PSU "had" (it went bad yesterday :( ) fan control and it was silent. I ordered a Antec NeoHE 550. It's within 1-2db of the Seasonic, but for $40-50 less. It also had a $20 rebate! So I couldn't pass it up.

I'm running these fans via a Sunbeam Rheobus. I run them at 5-7v. It's almost silent, it's hard to tell if it's on or not sometimes. Only the red glow of my rheobus helps :D

1 * 120mm side at min volts (zalman fan speed controller)
2 * 120mm rear and front controlled by psu (which means at about 7v most of the time I think)
cpu fan controlled by speedfan.
gpu is a artic cooling 5 speed controlled by graphics card (basically silent most of the time).

Even running slow the case fans provide plenty of cool air, turning them up makes nearly no difference to my o/c's so pointless.
After fiddling around with cooling for a few years I've come to the conclusion that you can build a system that runs very quietly and performs almost as well (such that you could only tell the system was slower by looking at benchmark figures, it feels identical in use) as any screaming air cooled or even water cooled setup.

Which would you go with. I can't decide:

Scythe "DF series" 120mm Super Silent Fan - L Speed
or
Yate Loon 120mm Silent Case Fan - D12SL-12

I want as quiet as possible at stock voltage/speed and don't know if the manufacturer dBA ratings are reliable with these brands or not.

Many new fans have a sone rating. The lower the level the quieter it is. Also almost all have a dBA rating and this too is the lower the dBA the quieter.
