How do you report a sex crime anonymously?

Found something on another site that is said to have occurred in CA sometime in the last few years.

There is enough information in the screen cap to identify the offender.

How can I send it to the FBI or CHP without leaving a trail?

I don't know if there's any fax number you could send this to but if you find one I would send a fax from a public fax machine if you can find anywhere that has one you can use. (library maybe?) Mail could technically be traced if your DNA is on the paper, and printers also leave a signature tracing back to the serial number of the printer. I don't think a fax machine would transmit that since they tend to be fairly low res. Hand writing can also be traced back to a specific person.

Tor + VPN and a throw away email account could work too, and might be cleaner. Or, use an online fax service. That would add an extra layer of safety.

Sounds like way more trouble than it's worth.

Don't certain agencies have anonymous tips lines? There may even be anonymous sex crime hotlines. I'm getting hits when searching.

How do I find the hosting company for a website? I can find the domain registrar on WhoIs, but it doesn't list the hosting company.

Do a whois on the IP that the domain resolves to, that should give the owner of the IP and from there you can probably get a general idea of the host.

Sometimes there will be an abuse@ email as well.

I just started as the SafeSport member of a local club. So, I'm beginning to get trained on this type of reporting (but far from knowledgeable). If it isn't sport related, then we are referred to this website for state-specific laws and regulations: https://www.childwelfare.gov/resources/states-territories-tribes/state-statutes/?q=california
Which basically led me to this for you (assuming it is child related): https://mandatedreporterca.com/
Which if you click the Report Abuse link gives this: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/reporting/report-abuse/child-protective-services

From what I gather, it might be hard to stay anonymous. That is because there is a good likelyhood that they'll need follow-up information. But, you can still try.

Looks like IP is owned by Tucows which is a domain registrar but they used to offer hosting too. Hostopia took over that service, so I would maybe try their support, although contacting Tucows might get you somewhere since they own the IP.

Two cows laid meadow muffins.

Found out later it was HostDime. They didn't do much either since the offending post had been edited.

Also sent the content to a few Federal and State agencies.
