how do you remove those stupid popups that aren' t really popups

Do you mean the ones that come in through Windows Messaging service and look like alert/message boxes?

If that's what you mean you can disable the Windows Messaging service in your services profile and that should fix it. Unless of course you are sync-ing with a PDA in which case you will need Windows Messaging.

Go Start>Settings>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services to get there. (Windows Classic Start Bar)

uninstall flash is the only way.
 
When the flashblock extension for Firefox worked, it got rid of those ads. But since it's not compatible with 1.0 (or at least I haven't found it on Mozilla Update), you can't use it with Firefox anymore.

there's video ad's blocker. don't know how effective it was. saw my friend use firefox to "close" flash based ads, but it doesn't block it straight up, it has to load it b4 u can get rid of it
