How do you remove thermal paste?

On a T-Bird or other cpu that has been smothered in thermal paste, how do your remove the paste?

I'd like to know this too... as I don't want to wipe it off and smear it on anything other than the die.... =\

1. Remove excess paste carfully by blotting with paper towel.
2. Use a Q-tip to apply Goo Gone.
3. Use another Q-tip or 2 or 3 to remove paste.
4. Use Q-tip with alcohol to remove any trace of Goo Gone or microscopic amounts of thermal paste.

Tried de-solv-it followed by alcohol(on the chip, not me) and it worked fine. Then tried just alcohol on it and worked just as well.

alcohol, WD40, nail polish remover, lighter fluid.

apply it with a q-tip

AS doesnt get off my Duron with rubbing alcohol 🙁

😀 I tried the vegetable oil followed by rubbing alcohol and it worked well.
Better than using a hunting blde IMHO, as I had to sand down the sucker after that fiasco!

I agree,googone,clean with alcohol on cutetip.

Before you use alcohol, always use olive oil !!
if it isn't clean right away, repeat the cycle...😀
