When I'm stressed I vigorously scratch the area between my scrotum and anus. I've found the best technique is to use an undulating motion with all four fingers on my right hand. Each finger scratches down the full length of the area in turn, creating the sensation of a never ending scratch. It's the most soothing feeling in the world. Everyone knows this.
Stroking the same region repeatedly and at length causes irritation. Every one knows this.

Exercising is a big one for me. Amazing how many don't realize how beneficial exercise is overall to the quality of life.

Top 5 thing ill do to relieve stress are:

1. Driving, not normal driving im talking about finding twisty mountain roads and drifting around every corner at 100kph plus, works well when the summer tires are on the car, not so much in the winter.

2. Play really loud music

3. Smoke a joint

4. Sex

5. Shoot things.

1. Sitting on my porch in a rocking chair with a beer and a pipe (tobacco).
2. Going to the range and firing off a few dozen rounds
3. Cleaning something (basement, garage, grill, yard, whatever)

tennis and playing the guitar...just getting outside

I do that alot. Quick and easy. Starts really working now because the vegetable growing season has just started. Put my tomatoes in the ground 2 days ago. :awe: Just ran around the whole house with a hoe and hacked down all the weeds...

Edit: Just wanted to add that I've been using my elliptical to great effect - 30 minutes and lots of my negative energy tends to dissipate. I also picked up some "guided relaxation/meditation" tracks off of Zune Market place - some of it is so goofy that it's embarrassing (with shit about unicorns and leprechauns), but some of it works amazingly well.. I also tried Pzizz, a small app that uses binaural audio to "energize" and force a state of deep relaxation - I'm sure it's mostly psychosomatics, but listening to the app through headphone has helped get rid of migraines in 15-20 minutes, vs. masking the pain through Excedrin.

Listen to Metal or Trance

Do you have any trance/IDM artist recommendations, for relaxation in particular? I used to listen to the stuff 10 years ago but lost track of the scene. Classical music used to work for me but recently it just causes my brain to get even more hyperactive.

Thanks!

Work out, repair something, Go shooting, Go fishing, or fire up Unreal Tournament and get out the sniper rifle. Depending on the time of year and the weather, one of these things will usually relieve my stress.

Most of the trance I listen to is from the late 90's, early 2000's:

Astral Projection
Tiesto
Paul Van Dyk
Yoji Biomehanika
Robert Miles

I'm also exploring for new artists.
