by their first name?

let's say you are fairly low on the corporate ladder (recent college grad) and you have to talk to a senior exec or someone high up. Do you refer to them as Mr./Mrs. last name

unless it's a really informal company, i dont think you're gonna turn any heads using their prefix and last name...

actually, unless it's a really uptight company, i dont think you're gonna turn any heads using first name either.

that said, i find it difficult to talk to anybody by name. mostly i'll single out a person and talk to them directly, never using a name.

Seriously? Oh wait, it's Fritolays.

Have you ever been introduced to someone in the workplace by Mr./Mrs. Lastname? No. First name.

And what country are you in? You're working here as a consultant and have had to meet numerous people. Have you every been introduced to a single one of them as Mr/Mrs Lastname? No.

Yep. Same avatar, same odd questions - and he's never denied it.

Have you met them before? Then just use first name.
If not, use Mr. or Mrs.
I'm sure you'll get one of those "just call me Bob" type responses.

first name only.

I think the only time I've referred to a higher up with a Mr. was when I was a reception... I'd greet the CEO of the company as Mr. Ween, because that's what everyone else called him (he was total old school... must've been like in his early 70's)

In social settings it's first name basis. At work it's either Sarge, L-T, or Chief depending on who I am speaking to at the moment. Sign of respect.

Unless you want to suck c***, first name. I was a lowly summer student and referred to district directors by their first name.

I generally refer to them by their first name followed by "-san".

I kind of like being called "spidey-san". Has a nice ring to it.

If they are REALLY important I call them Mr. <lastname>.

I usually call them by their last name with no prefix. eg John Smith I call him Smith. I also do this for people around the office with the same first name as other people. You wouldn't believe how many Chris's there are.

I work in in health care doing technical support. Doctors are pretty much top of the food chain. We call them Dr. Lastname (One or two exceptions). Everyone else is first name, including the company bigwigs higher than the Doctors.
