...to make them viewable in DVD players? What I gotta do fellas? I gotta buy a certain kind of disk? Gotta rip em to another file format? What? Gimme the low down. I'm tryna put all these flicks on disks.

Another Q.
If I just save an .avi or .mpeg onto a Data disk or as a Data disk, can I like, give the disk to my awesome dude...and then will he be able to see the flicks on his computer? Kinda like a zip disk or floppy?

You need a cd-writer and some cd-r's..use a program like nero to create a video cd, avi's usually needed to be encoded(to mpegs)

as long as you burn it to a video cd, anyone can view it on their dvd player(as long as it plays vcd's) or computer, but SVCD's and DVD rips are different..

nero burns in the vcd format if you select other file formats although i am not sure what versions it started supporting this.

i use dvd2avi then tmpgenc is the name to create mpeg images of dvd's so i can put away the dvd's and i burn them to cdr for viewing.it takes a while.nero will burn vcd and svcd file formats which is mpeg and mpeg 2 as for avi you will find more info here but a warning is to make a backup of the original and process the backup(saving the original for repeating the process if necessary.also this results in a lot of harddrive space being eaten up so keep that in mind;)

here is a link to a site that helps

butthis one helped me the most in learning

the essential guides are here

furor my svcd copies are made with nero and play in both my dvd standalone and my pc?did you buy the plugin?
hope this helps

Can Nero change .asf and .wmv files to VCD formats too? If not, what does?? And what can I use to turn .avi's to .mpeg and stuff like that?

No program can legally convert *.asf and *.wmv files because the codecs are exlcusive property of Microsoft Corp. If any program is able to do this, they are in violation of copyright law and could be sued. Using any such program after clicking the disclaimer at install could open you to lawsuits from M$ also, so be careful. I believe Microsoft may offer a add-on codec to convert files, but you may have to pay money for it.
