yeah...i guess if that's the way the person wants to pronounce it, I'll just say it that way.

btw...she's russian...if that has anything to do with the pronounciation.

The German word for "over" is "uber" with an umlaut over the U, which is correctly spelled "ueber" without the umlaut.

The pronunciation of the German would be somewhere between "ooo-ber" and "you-ber" and has no exact match in the English language. It's one of those nuances of language.

As an American tourist in a German speaking country, you'd be understood if you used either pronunciation.

A person's name, as someone else mentioned, is probably exempt from normal language pronunciations.
