I heard some moron at Fry's yesterday saying "saay-tuh". I wanted to punch him in the nuts.

I say say-tuh. I can't believe you get worked up over pronunciation of an acronym. Serial A-T-A just gets tedious when you use it frequently (like retail store reps most likely do). Why don't you just spell out S.C.U.B.A every time you say it?

You didn't read my follow-up post did you?

DATA is pronounced 2 different ways and both are considered correct, so I would assume SATA is the same.

saying sah ta is no worse then saying scuzzy. That said, I say serial ATA because I find saying S A T A kind of awkward I guess? I guess I just don't like acronyms with more than 3 letters.

But SCSI is meant to be pronounced "scuzzy"

Says who?

Says the majority. :) I am almost certain it was not Apple's intention to have it called "scuzzy" or "scussy", whoever you want to spell it.

I used to say S-ATA but now everyone at work calls it SATA as though you're saying an entire word as opposed to saying ES-A TEE A.

I think a lot of people say sah tuh. I do. Why would this anger you so much? It seems like quite a few things have acroynyms that people just pronounce as words.

Yeah I say it at sah tuh.

I also prononce stuff like WHQL, SQL, WYSIWYG, WEP, WAP....the list goes on.

That's like when I heard a girl on the subway ask her friend, "ooh is that the new Nay-noh?" (pointing at the fella's iPod Nano)
