When camping you enter the woods...

I think if you say that part of the sentence really fast and mash it together, you'll be pretty close.

Friend of mine knows all the butchered version of his last name so he'd rather recognize all the versions than try to fix em:
Win
Gwen
Nuh-Guy-Yen
Nu-gent (as it Ted Nugent, he likes this one best)
Ni-gent

I've heard the way he pronounced it in Vietnamese but can't do it myself.

More like

noo-win (there is no "U" sound in the middle.)

But it is monosyllabic, so even then that is a rough estimate.

NOOOOOG-IN (or at least that's what we called the Vietnamese girl in college whose last name was Nguyen).

But really I think it's pronounced "win", as in "win a game of counterstrike".

Every Vietnamese person I've know has always told me to pronounce it "win."

"win"

straight from poker pro Scotty Nguyen's mouth. He likes that Americanized version and the context "win" has as a pro game player, so I'll go with that.

No freaking idea.

I'd probably pronounce it "Nnn-Guy-En" and, according to this thread, be completely wrong. :p

The only time i've ever heard it pronounced win or newen is when viet people say their name to white people. Its very hard to pronounce unless you have a viet tongue.
