Hey douchebag, an acronym you say as a word. Like NASA, or NAMBLA. When you just say the letters it's simply an abbreviation.
 
"ATOTFTP" is hard to pronounce if you do A-T-O-T-F-T-P
"A-tot FTP" sounds cooler.

Also AnandTechnology Off Topic Forum Division File Transfer Protocol would be rather redundant.
