<< I usally pronounce is it an nan...an nan....an naa..not gonna work here no more. 😉 >>

No one is this country can ever pronounce my name right. It's not that hard: Nayee-Nanajar. Nayeenanajar.

There was a really good thread about this about 2 months ago. It included links to wave files and people that had met Anand.

Excellent quote from Office Space.
Anyway, I always used to say An-and, but after listening to that CNET radio thing, I came to realize it's closer to Uh-nond.

<< uh-nond. I promise you that is how it is pronounced. I've met Anand before and that is how you pronounce it. >>

<< You are correct. >>

Yup. That's how it's pronounced, assuming he pronounces it the same way my good friend does. Although we just call him Anu, which is what is 'rents call him. 🙂

sorry to be fob as hell....

ah-nand(th) the "th" is VERY slight, barely noticable, kind of part of the d. Basically just a soft d.

I know how it is supposed to be pronounced, but with my British accent I have always pronouced it:

Ann-and with the emphasis on the first syllable.

After listening to the radio show I know how it should be pronounced, but it is hard to change the habit of a lifetme (or atleast the habit of the last four years or so.)

Gosh! Is there a rule that this question be asked every month?

Anyway, I pronounce it "A" as in "apple" "nand" as I would 'nand' gate. So, it's A-nand. It's an Indian name, so I'm not about to abuse it or mess with it, I suppose. 😛

Haircut -- << ... Ann-and with the emphasis on the first syllable. >>

Guess it's a bad hair day. 😉 I've spoken with him a couple of times when he was nice enough to beta test the GFD I designed (see my sig).

His mom pronounced it Ah-nahnd, with the emphasis on the second syllable, when she called him to the phone. I think I can believe her. 🙂

I know how it's supposed to be pronounced, but I can't shake the habit of pronouncing it like LordMaul, an-ann-d. Sorry Anand. 😱

Did I call it or did I call it. (see my post above) 🙂
