How do you program the thumb button on logitech mouse in HL

I use the wheel to scroll the weapons, I want to assign the thumb to a specific weapon.

First you say "set the thumb button as "middle button"
that's not what I'm asking, I don't want to assign the thumb button as the middle button. then, you say "the thumb button/middle button has nothing to do with scrolling" of couse it has, when you scroll the wheel you scrool, if you press on the wheel that's the middle button, the middle button is assigned to scrool the weapons in HL, if you press on the side thumb button that's the Thumb button the thumb button is not assigned to nothing in HL. But NONE of this is Relevant to what I am trying to ask. The Question is "How do you assign the thumb button in HL ?"

i'm sorry, but you are just an idiot. My advice is valid and works for any fps. the scroll wheel is separate from the middle button. pushing it just happens to access it. assign the thumb button as a middle button and it will work in games.. and so will your %#@ scroll. i've owned 5 %#@ scroll 4 button logitech mice..

I will refrain from calling you names but I will make it more simple.

The left button is assigned.
The right button is assigned.
The wheel is assigned to scrool all weapons.
Pressing on the wheel is the middle button, it's assigned to scrool available weapons.
If I assign the thumb button as the middle button I will loose the middle button. that's not what I want to do. I want the left, right, wheel, middle button. NOW how do I assign the Thumb button in HL to a specific weapon.

you do what i said. You lose no REAL functionality from doing it, pushing the wheel button during a game is silly.. it just isn't built for it.

I believe one way to assign the thumb button is to go to your mouse control and set the button to some obscure key that you almost never use (~ comes to mind). Then when you set up your controls, take whatever action you want the thumb button to be and assign it to that key (in this case make it ~). It worked for my roommate in UT and Rainbow 6, so it should work in HL. Let me know how it works for you

It seems that Q, UT, HL does have functions for the left, right, middle, wheel, but not the thumb unless you assign it to the middle button.
