I assumed you could just group with some high levels, while they kill monsters and get tons of exp that way, but it wans't really working. What is the best way (quickest) way to level in WoW?

(how do all those places that you pay to power-level do it?)

grind in specific spots for long periods of time. best way for low levels is to quest from levels 1-30 with same level friends, and then power grind solo to 60. helps if you have a guild. my friends power leveled characters in like 13-15 days cuz they had grinding spots for both horde and alliance memorized. pretty amazing. depends alot on your class too. and it helps to look up a specific grinding build. god i miss wow.

you can look up lists for optimal grinding spots.

okay, i was thinking that there was some magical way (like being walked through level 60 quests at level 1) but it's just a lot of grinding.

I guess that's pretty cool that blizzard made it so you can't get a way high level too quick

If you're around level 20-30, go to Hearthglen with some friends who are 60. A mage in that group would be nice. The Mage sheeps the mob(not HIS mob yet) and you can hit that mob and it's getting "your" mob -> you get the XP for it.

I've tried doing things like that, such as having a friend poly a mob,or buff/heal me while i tried to powerlevel, it didnt really work out as being better than just going solo. youd be better off having your friend farm and give you money so you can buy gear. the problem is it takes too long to kill the mob, and by the time your done you could have killed three mobs your level in the same time/with the same mana, so it really isnt worth it.
Best bet for trying to level really quickly is to solo grind. I wouldnt recommend group grinding, you find out quickly grouping isnt worth it. I would recommend leveling on mobs that are 1-2 levels below you, as a mage that was my best bet. On my rogue, i would commonly grind on greens that were 3-4 levels below me, the reason being that my hit % and my enemies miss % were so high i barely expended any hp on each mob, and my energy came back within seconds, so i could basically be fighting continuously

Well, you just have to hit the mob once, and let the group(which you are not in) kill the mob. That gives tons of XP.

Get them to do your quests for you more or less, quest exp is the easiest way to level fast in WoW.

In Hearthglen, you get like 800XP for each mob(non-rested).

grind basicallly. Also, don't die. Finally, keep your downtime low. Try to beg for buffs from druids/mages, and buy scrolls of agility/str, etc when you grind. Those always help reduce downtime and lvling time.

hearthglen is usually filled with organized china farmers who will pirana outsiders usually on pvp server. course guilds used to also paralyze their business for a day or two by ravaging hearthglen and griefing them :p

Maybe it's changed but you cant really do the tag the mob and let someone else kill it, because you'll get reduced experience.

The best ways to powerlevel are in my opinion:

Kill stuff and do quests with a healer following you around healing you. While someone helping out killing the mob will lower the experiene you get, there is no experience loss for someone healing you.

Having a hunter run with you with aspect of the pack helps you move between places faster.

Of course having 4x 16 slot bags in addition to the main bag, gives you more room for quest items.

I haven't done it myself but I hear having a high level mage AoE large amounts of mobs in an instance your level is good experience due to the sheer amount of mobs etc.

Doing instances is good experience, even with higher levels since you can move through them so quickly. Getting 4-5 quests in a single instance run in a few hours can yield a large amount of experience, plus the quest rewards for the flagship quests for instances usually give good items, even more so if you do quests you can't at your own level due to the help of higher level friends.

Make sure you log off in an inn/city, rested experience is your friend.

Find a solid group of 3 people and go through quests as fast as possible. Why 3? Because you can get group stuff done together nicely but don't get bogged down by the "collect 20 of these" quests which would take a large group decades to complete. All of the people I knew who leveled quickly did it in groups of 2 or 3.

Oh yea, and the good powerlevelers know exactly which quests to skip because they aren't worth the time.

Find a place to "farm", get a 60 mage behind you. Tap on a mob and immediate move to another mob, etc. Do quests that involve only the location of where you are grinding out XP. The big XP/hour drains are quests that have a lot of traveled involved or dying. Later on try to avoid raids as they negate your rested XP as well.

You have to have someone run you threw all of the quests, a few patches ago you used to be able to kill mobs and get full XP as if you killed it solo, you now get a server reduction in XP with having them in your group.

If you are a mage just have a friend heal you (out of group) and AOE everything. Other then that just grind and do quests where you are grinding.

The fastest way is to have a Chinese friend. If you don't have a Chinese friend, I suggest you get one.

Having someone out of your group heal you gives the same XP reduction as having someone out of your group DPS the mobs. About the only thing you can do is have them heal you between fights to cut downtime.

I've tried all manners of power levelling and it never beats solo questing/grinding (if you know how to do it well). The only other method that seems to work is to take a mage into an instance roughly the level of the lower lvl character and AOE stuff. You only get 20-30 XP per mob, but you can make up for it with volume.

40 -> 45 was all AOE grinding in Arathi (Horde) and someone was healing me out of the group and got full XP
