Yeah, because no-one who isn't a DJ has records or a turntable.

Most of the people in this thread have probably been listening to records for longer than you've been alive kiddo.

let's face it, if there's no needle in the stylus to move in the grooves of a record, then the cartridge and tone arm will slide across the record to the center of the lp, which is the original problem here.

I don't care who you are, I didn't see you on the last DMC. How bout you stfu

also, how is that I try to help and get flamed. Way to help a fellow ATOT guys

The point is...

Saying you have two turntables doesn't make you a 'Real DJ'. I just clowned you with my setup alone, it'd be sad to see how much I clown you on the cut.

Remeber the grounding cable as well. Found this out once. Why they need it, I don't know.

Tape a nickel on the tone arm, that's how we did it back in the day and we loved it!

yup. ebay. supposedly new, but who knows.

at this point, I'm about ready to send it back.

what would I be looking for in terms of a broken needle? if I manually hold the arm in place, I can get sound through the speakers, but it sounds like I'm listening to a radio with really bad static.

Broken needle?

I'm a real DJ and have two turntables, it sounds like there isn't a needle in your cartridge. Check it.
Dumbest sh:t I've heard all night.

bingo :) no needle was the problem. thanks guys.

I'm dumb... but it's my first record player :p I accidently removed the needle when removing the protective covering. I guess I didn't notice because I was looking for something that looked more like an actual needle. lol.

I'm now listening to Janis Joplin in all her vinyl goodness :D

Are you joking me? You sound like an idiot...

My name is Lorn, and I'm currently working on a record with DJ I-Emerge - World DMC Champion.

I own an octagon - 4 Vestax PDX 2300's, 2 Rane TTM-56's, 1 Vestax 07 Pro and a Stanton SA-8.

I've got a whole wall of records.

I think YOU'RE the one who needs to STFU.
i think you're the one that needs to recommend a new DJ to their client.

Haha.

Edit: I just don't take kindly to toys who act all big on the net because they're a "Real DJ" with "two turntables", and who then proceed to tell me to STFU when they have absolutely no clue that I actually have some credibility on the subject.

That's like telling someone who works at ATI to STFU when you're acting big, using a 9500 Pro.

You need to adjust the tracking force so that it applies the appropriate pressure on the needle. There's probably a counterweight on the back end of the tonearm that you can adjust by rotating it.

or that little plastic bit covering the needle to protect it when you first buy it hasn't been removed yet

Ha ha.. To solve this problem on mine decades ago I would put a penny on the arm.
