I'm going to suckle at the government teat. I want Federal Piggy to take care of me, so I intend to invent some malady at retirement.

I'm 22 and recently begun funneling 10% of income into mutual funds; partly for retirement, the rest for a later-life fun-fund.

2k a piece in IRA's a year for me and the G/F
She puts in 10% of her paycheck for 401k
I'll start putting in 8%(cus that all the company will match) May(one year date needed for qualification)

I five years time(G/F graduates w/ Dr. in pharmacy) we'll start dropping about 2k a month into a Mutual fund/CD's and keep 'em rolling.

Currently putting 11.5% into a 401K (automatic company contribution), plus $100 a month each into a 403b and Nationwide mutual fund that also provides $300K of life insurance. Just put another 2K in an IRA... Come March when I get my main student loan paid off I'll be saving an extra $1K a month on top of all that other stuff... :)

I'm 24, BTW. Started the IRA when I was 18... :) I intend to be well prepared... :)
