How do you pick your NFL allegiance?

Let's say two teams are playing and both are not your home team, how do YOU decide which team to root for?

I usually go with whatever team that has more players that I like, or have a better track record, makes for a more favorable result. If they're equally bad, then it's geographical, whichever team is close to me, haha. I know it's not a very good way to pick teams, but that's how it is. Sue me.

I'm a Vikings fan first. After that I'm a fan of anyone that plays against the Packers, Bears, or Cowboys. After that, i root for my fantasy players.

i don't watch football, but if i did, in that situation , i would root for the winner

everybody loves a winner

I'll always be a Dallas fan - but I also cheer for the Patriots because they're a very team-first oriented team, much like my Spurs.

After those two, I typically choose who I like the most, but I NEVER cheer for the Colts or Redskins.

Sounds about right, I am a Cowboys fan and I root against the Eagles, Giants, Redskins and anyone who would threaten us for the wild card. Aside from them I like the Saints (Sean Peyton is one cool dude) and I love the Colts as my AFC team (I mean Peyton Manning, come on!).

What's with the big Packers-Cowboys thing, it that just before my time?

now this is a man I could sit down and have a beer with. Go Vikes!

Always root for steelers.

If steelers are not playing, then root for teams that will help my fantasy score.

If not involved with fantasy, root for team with more players I like.

Never root for Philly or Dallas.

If philly and dallas is playing, I root for Osama.

If I have no interest in who is playing (which is not very often) I root for guys who played for my college team. There's usually at least 1 on every roster.

I usually go for the underdog, or a team where a favorite player is playing.

That and I root for whoever is playing the patriots.

I've cried into many a beer after a Vikings season...one more won't hurt. 😛

(nothing was worse than the 1998 NFC Championship game, which we were at [season tickets all year], and when we got home...we found out that our number was picked in the lottery for Super Bowl tickets...and would have gotten tickets) :|

As much as i agree with you, NE isn't really overhyped this year...they are going to be VERY good this year...VERY good.

If it's two teams that I really dont care about, I'll usually root for the underdogs.

I live in MD, 20 minutes from Baltimore, so Im a big Ravens fan. The fact that I love good defensive squads more than a good offense is a +

1) bears first
2) for anyone who is playing whoever is ranked higher then the bears.
3) if its 2 teams that don't matter i just want to see a good game.

Hopefully they'll be overhyped.

But if you do that, sometimes you'll find yourself cheering for both teams :Q

Nope, just for the individual players on each of the teams. If i have guys on both teams, i'll be rooting for a 63-56 game. 😀
