How do you pay your credit card bills?

How very odd. :hmm: When debit cards came about, pretty much every store stopped accepting cheques in any form up here. I gues I just don't see the point of allowing cheques at all in retail establishments (or for buying pizza).

Yea, pretty much the only people I ever see using checks at stores are 65+ years old.

I'm looking forward to being able to scan my smartphone to buy lunch.

I pay mine online by making a quick transfer from my checking. I don't usually let balances on my CC stay longer than a day and I tend to pay them off asap.

Does your store accept payment via cheque?

KT

Personal cheques no. For large transactions, like over 10,000, we might and we do accept bank drafts but it's a pain in the ass. We have to wait till everything clears 100% before you are allowed to pick up your stuff. Usually our business accounts are set up as a form of line of credit that the company can draw on when they need to get stuff, they pay them off at the end of the fiscal year. I'm not up on the details but I'm sure they go through a bunch of financial checks to open one of these. We call then net30 accounts internally. Because of this we don't even see that many bank drafts. Though the largest transaction I did for a customer, 15k, was done through a bank draft.

I don't have a "plan" on my bank account so I'm charged for every transaction so it wouldn't make sense to pay off the card every few days. I'm assuming you have unlimited bill payments or something like that?

Manual online transfer.

Not sure why I would ever bother paying by cheque anymore; waste of time.

Clearly you've never had the displeasure of dealing with Charter Communications' billing...there's not a chance in hell I'd give those idiots access to my checking account. My bill is frequently for the wrong amount, and they've even withdrawn more than what I've manually authorized in the past - that was enough for me, ha. When you're dealing with truly incompetent corporations, the inconvenience of writing a check is preferable to having them debit you the wrong amount.

That makes sense. I suspect personal cheques are close to obsolete up here and rightfully so.

Not sure what you're talking about. I simply provided the CC vendor my bank routing number and my account number when I first signed up. Once I make a purchase, I go to my account on the CC website and make a transfer of the same amount.
There isn't any charge for transferring your payment.

I do not allow any company to automatically debit my account for anything. I get the bill (some paper, some e-mail) and review them, then pay through online banking.

Auto-debit just seems like a bad idea to me, though I'm sure it works for some. I actually need to review my bills before any money goes out, so auto-debit is not an option for me. I can only imagine having those types of issues you mentioned.

Hmm well I do it as a bill payment via online banking. For me they charge me for account to account transfers and bill payments. EACH and every one. That is unless I put a "plan" on my account usually for a monthly fee of about $4-5 which gives me a set number of free bill payments, transfers, debit transaction, interbank withdrawals etc. Without such a plan they charge you for each of these. Since I only make a few payments and transfers a month it adds up to less than the 4 or 5 dollar fee so it doesn't make sense yet for me to add even the cheapest of their plans.

Yup, I had to call them at least 3 months in a row to remove inaccurate charges. Then my bill suddenly went up $15 because they upgraded all their tiers without telling me. Told me I had to sign a two year contract to get my old rate. Cancelled all service right then and there. Used 3G on my phone for a couple months until I moved.

So yea I don't autopay anything either, and thankfully Verizon Fios was available at the new place.

wth is a cheque? its 'check' man. check yourself before you wreck yourself. i'm going to pay by check just to annoy young people

I don't write cheques. I check my wallet for my credit card and cash. Cheques are for the elderly, who don't need to check their chequeing accounts all that often to check to see if they can write a cheque.

Autopay against my checking account. I never pay interest. For me a credit card is a convenience. It's the easiest the way to pay your bills and the cheapest, as long as you pay monthly and don't incur interest.

Some agencies don't accept credit card payments, or if they do, they charge you a fee (e.g. $10), so I write those a check. Checks are not totally obsolete.

I pay almost (except the rent) all of my personal and business expenses with my 2% cold hard cash back Visa and then I pay in full before the due date with my checking account bill pay.

2% cash back without any restrictions
no stamp
