How do you pay your credit card bills?

when the monthly statement arrives, do you send a payment by check, money order, debit, or what? kind of curious since a lot of folks here seem to be allergic to checks.

Generally online through my bank.

I will try to avoid writing checks whenever possible.

Online banking. Not sure why I would ever bother paying by cheque anymore; waste of time. I'm always amazed when I'm in the States and see they still allow people to pay by cheque at retail stores. Most places up here moved away from that years ago; I honestly can't recall the last time I saw a store up here that allowed it, it's been many years. :hmm:

i pay everything by check. you don't even have to fill anything in at grocery stores. the machine does it by itself. faster than a cc and no sig required

I have no idea what you are talking about. That does not sound like any cheque I've seen before.

Pay balance in full from checking account online transfer the day I get the statement email. Same with all my bills. Rent payments are the only checks I write, I would put it on credit if I could. No cashback writing a check 🙁.

Online, auto-pay, full bill, maximum cash/point/mile credits. Never paid credit card with a check/mail/phone in the last ~7 years. Once a month or so, I use my bank's online banking tool to review all transactions from all credit cards.

Those are basically like swiping your atm card. Insert the check, it reads the numbers and immediately withdraws the amount from your checking account. They even give you the check back with the receipt printed on the reverse. Old people trip out. All stores should have it, hate waiting while grandmas write out their checks.

It's through the same bank as my checking account, so that. If I had another one, I'd still use BillPay through my bank to pay it.

Why not just use a debit card? Don't you stil have to pay for the physical cheques?

Yes. I never use checks, but it is a good way to speed up the lines for those that do. No signature, no writing the total $, no date. Just give them your check and go.

Plus it will bounce immediately I'd think if your balance couldn't cover it, or your bank would just charge you overdraft like with an atm card.

I don't get a statement in the mail. I get my statement by email then pay it online as a biller out of my chequing account. Well actually I transfer some money from my savings account to my chequing account then pay it. I try not to keep everything in my savings account, even if the interest is only about 1% it's still better than nothing.

How very odd. :hmm: When debit cards came about, pretty much every store stopped accepting cheques in any form up here. I gues I just don't see the point of allowing cheques at all in retail establishments (or for buying pizza).

Yeah most stores would look at you really strange up here. "WTF you serious?"
