I just bought a Crucial ATI Radeon 8500LE and want to overclock it to match the regular 8500. Any suggestions?

Did you look at the memory specs before buying that card? Crucial uses 6ns RAM... that is RAM that's rated to work at 166 MHz. I really, really doubt you'll be able to match the retail card's 275 MHz memory clock with this card. You'll likely get a nice overclock from the core though.

I've personally used both Rage3d tweak and PowerStrip to overclock my Radeon 8500LE. After I fooled around with it for awhile I flashed my card's BIOS to boot up at retail speed. :)

If the Crucial is anything like the built by ATI 8500LE I have you just need Powerstrip as it isn't bios locked. I run mine@300core/315mem and get 11,100+ in 3dMARK2001se.

That's a good point, if it's indeed using 6ns ram (the wolfman knows his ram) then since he just bought it they should take it back no problemo, though depending where he got it he may have to eat a restocking fee.

6NS? I guess they really are the memory experts.

Take it back, it has ZERO chance. You may hit retail 7500 speeds however, with a little luck.

I would like to overclock mine. I have the Sapphire version I guess. It comes with a Sapphire CD with the drivers. I got it from newegg.com.

MEM:128MB DDR, 128-bit memory. This card has a default Clock Speed of 250/200 MHz

That is what it says on the info at newegg.com. I would like to get more out of it also.

Yep, it's unfortunate that Crucial uses RAM this slow, but at least they do not attempt to hide it. It's made perfectly clear in their product description right here under "memory configuration"

I doubt you can return it without incurring some sort of restocking fee, but it may be worth looking into if you were hoping to hit retail speeds with the card.

and...

In Powerstrip, it says AGP Aperture: 64MB .. Is that suppose to be 128MB or anything?

Why don't you ask your questions about aperture size and a different brand of board in your own thread?
