i'm bored too. but i'm leaving for florida in 3 hours so I don't have time to take a pic of my start menu :D

but basically I've got the regular Programs, Favorites, etc.. and above that I have programs that I frequently use but don't want to put them in the quick launch bar. CDex, mIRC, Nero, GetRight, PokerStars, PartyPoker, Paradise Poker, Pokerroom.com.

edit: btw, i have win2k.

Mine is very similar to yours Anubis, but a little more diverse. I think I was running the same theme for a while, as well.

I have the recently used thing on, so hardly anything shows.
My often used programs are on the desktop, start menu is hardly used, so doesn't need to be organised.
I have about 50 isons on the desktop I use. (Not organised either)

I always reorganize it. One pet peeve of mine is when a program will install itself and put in multiple directories/links in the main start menu list.

Take Microsoft Office for example. It'll install links to all of its programs in the main list - making it much longer. But that isn't enough, Office will also install a directory for Microsoft Office tools. Now if you also want multiple versions (for example if you want Office Pro and Works Suite) then double the number of entries. Instead of having one huge @ss scrolling list, I make one Microsoft Office folder, and move all that junk into it.

However, I don't over do it. I won't make a programs folder, then a utilities folder inside the programs, then put the Microsoft Office inside the utilities. That would be a place for everything and well organized. Yet it'll take a half dozen clicks to do anything and the solution is worse than the original problem.

On a related note, don't you hate it when a program makes a separate directory with just one item in it? I'd rather just have that one item!

Start menu?

Bah!

First thing I do when setting up a new machine is change that mofo back to classic view. I HATE the new XP start menu. I don't use a start menu anyway. Any "important" program has a shortcut in a folder called "apps" on my desk. Or....I just fire it up from the run prompt.

I do the same thing. But it is still a menu with the name "Start" (unless you mod that too). So it is still a start menu.

Delete it all!

I hate using the start menu. The only thing it's useful for is recently used progs. Everything can be found in Quick Launch

I use the new one now. At first I was a hardcore "MS = teh STOOP1D!! CL4SSIK IS TEH BETTARZ" kind of person and then I realized that the new one IS a lot nicer. I sucked up my pride and gave it a try.
